Zimbabwe Parliament approves bill that could keep Mnangagwa in power until 2030

Zimbabwe's lower house of Parliament has passed a constitutional amendment bill that would extend presidential terms from five to seven years, potentially allowing President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office until 2030.

The bill received the required two-thirds majority and now heads to the Senate, where it is widely expected to pass due to the ruling ZANU-PF's majority.

If approved, the amendment will pave the way for Mnangagwa to stay in power beyond the end of his current term in 2028.

Do you support extending presidential terms, or should leaders step down when their terms end?

Mnangagwa Refuses to Fund Return of Zimbabweans from South Africa

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa says his government will not provide transport for Zimbabwean citizens who wish to return home from South Africa amid the ongoing migration debate.

According to Mnangagwa, those returning should use the same means they used to enter South Africa, adding that if they walked to South Africa, they should walk back to Zimbabwe before the 30 June deadline.
