HEIDELBERG CLINCH TOP SPOT ON KESTREL LEAGUE LOG
Will face Vanderbijlpark in home semi-final.
Heidelberg Rugby Club has once again clinched top spot on the Valke Rugby Kestrel League log after a crunching 97-7 victory over Tsakane this past Saturday (July 8).
The game was called with 20-minutes remaining in the interest of player safety.
The stand out player for Heidelberg was centre Jason van Jaarsveld, who contributed an unbelievable 50 individual points, through six tries and 10 conversions. The balance of Heidelberg’s points were scored through tries by Duncan van Zyl (2), Brennan Ryan, Roaan Viljoen, Pinny Pruis, Bongi Ntuli, Armand Wessels, Morne v/d Sandt and JJ Snyders, with Ntuli also adding a single conversion.
The result means that Heidelberg cannot be toppled from top spot with one league game remaining. They are now guaranteed to face fourth-placed Vanderbijlpark in a home semi-final, while the second semi-final clash will be between Oos-Rand Polisie and Delmas.
Heidelberg end the regular season this coming Saturday (July 15) when they visit the team of Katlehong.
