Captain Calvin Tafirei Soda, the pilot who died in Wednesday’s helicopter crash in Marondera, will be buried in Marondera on Sunday. Mourners gathered at his family home in Philadelphia, Harare, have described him as a unifier and dedicated aviator. He is survived by his wife, Shamiso, and three children.

WICKNELL CHIVAYO DIES IN MARONDERA HELICOPTER CRASH

Prominent Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has died after a private helicopter he was traveling in alongside five other passengers crashed in Marondera rural this evening. Family spokesperson Mr Herbert Chivayo confirmed the death of the businessman and his wife Lucy Muteke.

He told Zbc News that they are at loss of words after the tragic incident. ZImbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the plane crash saying the helicopter had six occupants.

LET’S BE FAIR, ZIMBABWE ❤️🇿🇼

I have been seeing the stories circulating about our brother, the philanthropist who has been using his own resources to change people’s lives and bless complete strangers with cars.

And now, because someone has unfortunately been involved in an accident, people are already saying, “It’s juju. It’s witchcraft.”

My fellow Zimbabweans, let us pause for a moment and think.

This man took his own hard-earned money and decided to give someone a car — not because he owed them anything, not because they were family, but simply because he had the heart to help another human being.

How many of us would do that?

A car is a machine. It can be damaged. It can crash. Accidents happen every single day — to brand-new cars, second-hand cars, Toyotas, Hondas, Mercedes-Benzes, kombis and trucks. People have accidents for many reasons: speeding, fatigue, alcohol, poor road conditions, mechanical failures, tyres, inexperience, or simply human error.

So why should an accident automatically become evidence of witchcraft simply because the car was received as a blessing?

We need to be careful with the stories we create about people who are doing good.

If every act of kindness is met with suspicion, accusations and negativity, what message are we sending to those who have the ability to help others?

Tomorrow, that person may decide, “Let me keep my money. Let me stop helping people. Let me mind my own business.”

And who loses?

The very people who needed the help.

Sometimes, when God blesses someone, that blessing gives them the ability to become a blessing to others. Instead of looking for darkness behind every good deed, perhaps we should simply appreciate the light.

You remembered people who may never have had the opportunity to own a car. You gave someone hope. You reminded someone that they matter.

For that, thank you. ❤️

Let us learn to celebrate people while they are still alive. Let us not destroy a good heart with rumours and accusations we cannot prove.

Accidents can happen. Cars can be replaced. But a generous heart is something we should protect and encourage.

God bless you, Sir, for your giving heart. May you continue to touch lives and uplift those around you.

And to my fellow Zimbabweans — let us choose kindness over rumours, gratitude over suspicion, and unity over unnecessary negativity.

The truth does not need noise to defend itself. In time, the truth will always speak for itself. 🇿🇼❤️
