UMKHONTO WESIZWE PARTY ETHEKWINI REGION CELEBRATES ANOTHER LEGAL VICTORY AGAINST ANC

22 April 2024, Durban – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party eThekwini Region celebrates yet another legal victory in its ongoing battle with the African National Congress (ANC) over the party's name and logo. A court ruling delivered today at the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Durban has upheld the legality and legitimacy of the MK Party, allowing it to continue its political activities unhindered.
MK Party eThekwini Regional Election Team Convenor, B.F Dlamini said that: “The ANC's attempts to challenge the registration and use of the MK Party's name and logo have been met with successive defeat in the court, demonstrating the resilience and validity of the MK Party's position.”
“In a series of rulings, the courts have reaffirmed the right of the MK Party to exist as a political entity, with candidates of its choice, and to utilise its name and logo for campaigning purposes. The latest ruling has highlighted the ANC's failure to substantiate its claims of trademark infringement and confusion among voters.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Jabulani Khumalo, expressed satisfaction with the court outcomes, stating, "I am over the moon. We are unstoppable." Khumalo emphasised the party's determination to focus on its election campaign and serve the interests of the people.
The legal victories against the ANC represent a significant milestone for the MK Party, affirming its status as a legitimate political alternative and a voice for overdue change.
As the election date, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party eThekwini Region remains committed to its mission of advancing the aspirations of the people and promoting democracy and equality for all citizens.
