Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has died in a helicopter crash at age 63, Iranian news outlets have reported. Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was also among those killed, along with seven others.
His death comes at a fraught moment in the Middle East, with war raging in Gaza. The helicopter crashed weeks after Iran launched a drone-and-missile attack on Israel in response to a deadly strike on its diplomatic compound in Damascus.

UMKHONTO WESIZWE PARTY ETHEKWINI REGION CELEBRATES ANOTHER LEGAL VICTORY AGAINST ANC

Staff reporter

22 April 2024, Durban – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party eThekwini Region celebrates yet another legal victory in its ongoing battle with the African National Congress (ANC) over the party's name and logo. A court ruling delivered today at the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Durban has upheld the legality and legitimacy of the MK Party, allowing it to continue its political activities unhindered.

MK Party eThekwini Regional Election Team Convenor, B.F Dlamini said that: “The ANC's attempts to challenge the registration and use of the MK Party's name and logo have been met with successive defeat in the court, demonstrating the resilience and validity of the MK Party's position.”

“In a series of rulings, the courts have reaffirmed the right of the MK Party to exist as a political entity, with candidates of its choice, and to utilise its name and logo for campaigning purposes. The latest ruling has highlighted the ANC's failure to substantiate its claims of trademark infringement and confusion among voters.

The MK Party eThekwini Region applauds the judiciary's commitment to upholding the principles of justice and legality, ensuring that political parties are able to operate within the bounds of the law without undue interference,” said Vedhan Singh MK Party eThekwini Regional Election Team Media and Communications Officer.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Jabulani Khumalo, expressed satisfaction with the court outcomes, stating, "I am over the moon. We are unstoppable." Khumalo emphasised the party's determination to focus on its election campaign and serve the interests of the people.

The legal victories against the ANC represent a significant milestone for the MK Party, affirming its status as a legitimate political alternative and a voice for overdue change.

As the election date, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party eThekwini Region remains committed to its mission of advancing the aspirations of the people and promoting democracy and equality for all citizens.

Xhosa Legend: Brenda Fassie 😯🇿🇦🕊

Brenda Nokuzola Fassie (3 November 1964 – 9 May 2004) was a South African singer, songwriter, dancer and activist. Affectionately called MaBrrr by her fans, she is also known as the "Queen of African Pop", the "Madonna of The Townships" or simply as The Black Madonna. Her bold stage antics earned a reputation for "outrageousness"; ironically, her Xhosa name, Nokuzola, means "quiet", "calm", or "peace".
