🇿🇦[FAMILY IDENTIFIES 28-YEAR-OLD R21 MURDER VICTIM]

The family of 28-year-old Gracious Nkomo has positively identified her as one of the women whose bodies were discovered along the R21 in Kempton Park.

Nkomo was the third woman whose body was discovered in the Kempton Park area on 10 September 2026. She was found partially clothed.

She was identified today by her family at the Germiston Mortuary.

The South African Police Service continues to investigate the murder of Nkomo, as well as the other cases involving women whose bodies have been discovered in the area.

Acting National Commissioner of the , Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, says investigations are progressing, with a multidisciplinary team of investigators working around the clock to establish the circumstances surrounding the murders and identify those responsible.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Gracious Nkomo during this extremely difficult time. Our investigators remain seized with these cases, and we will continue to pursue every available lead to ensure that those responsible for these murders are brought to justice,” says Lieutenant General Dimpane.

As Kempton Park remains under intensified policing operations, investigations into these murders remain ongoing.

🇿🇦South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has been booked off from public engagements due to ill health on the advice of his medical team, his office said on Wednesday.

Ramaphosa, 73, returned to South Africa on Monday after attending the BRICS leaders' summit in India and was advised to rest and recover, his office said in a statement.

The statement said Ramaphosa had asked cabinet ministers to represent him at scheduled public events where possible, without saying how long his absence might last.

South Africa's deputy president, Paul Mashatile, is also resting on the advice of his doctors after a medical procedure.

🇿🇦South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it had noted with concern US visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier.

The foreign ministry added in a statement that the US announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups."

"We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said.

Trump has repeatedly criticised South Africa since the start of his second term for what he falsely claims is the racial persecution of its white minority, citing affirmative action laws aimed at addressing the inequality that has persisted since apartheid.

🇨🇩Police in the Democratic Republic of Congo dispersed opposition protests in several cities on Tuesday against proposed constitutional changes. The proposed reforms could allow President Felix Tshisekedi to seek a third term.

The demonstrations were called by the opposition C64 coalition, linked to former presidential candidates Martin Fayulu, Moise Katumbi and Delly Sesanga. A previous protest organised by C64 in the capital Kinshasa in June was dispersed by security forces.

Several hundred people took part in the protest in Kinshasa, according to two Reuters witnesses. In the cities of Lubumbashi and Uvira, protests were officially prohibited by local authorities but went ahead anyway and were dispersed, two other witnesses said.

The protest in Kinshasa was authorised and began peacefully, but clashes broke out between protesters and pro-government supporters.

🇺🇲🇿🇦BREAKING: The USA has announced new visa restrictions for people it claimed are responsible for the racially motivated crime and government-sponsored discrimination occurring against the Afrikaners and other minority populations in South Africa.

An official statement said these include race-based discriminatory legislation, threats of land expropriation without compensation, and incitement of racial violence through dehumanizing chants and slogans (an apparent reference to the Kill the Boer chants).

It said the South African government has not adequately addressed the previously laid out concerns, but did not name the people to be affected by these visa restrictions.

The restrictions were signed by President Donald Trump and bars the designated people and their family members from obtaining visas to enter the USA

The US personnel were shot during an anti-smuggling operation by the Eswatini army in a rural region in the northeast of the country late Friday, Eswatini's government said in a statement late Monday.

Nyasha Mugodzeri, 28, was arrested following a tip-off from members of the public. Authorities say the suspected remains are believed to include male genitalia. Mugodzeri faces charges of unlawful possession of suspected human body parts and entering Botswana through an unofficial border crossing. Prosecutors told the court that investigations are still ongoing and that the current charge involving the body parts is a holding charge. Mugodzeri has asked to be released on bail, telling the court he would not flee. A ruling on his bail application is expected on Friday, while the case is due back in court on September 18.
