Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers feat. Ahmed Ag Kaedy - "Common Stars" ✨ When the hypnotic groove of Onom Agemo & The Disco Jumpers meets the pulsating riffs of Malian guitarist and singer Ahmed Ag Kaedy, new horizons open up. With ‘Common Stars’, they continue their fruitful collaboration and for the first time present pieces that were composed in a collective process. The result: six tracks that fuse rock and psychedelic jazz into a unique sound.
‘Common Stars’ is a musical meeting of cultures that unites sounds from the Sahara to Berlin. Music that creates connections and makes different perspectives audible. The six tracks are characterized by trance-like rhythms, hypnotic bass lines and shimmering saxophone and flute sounds. Pulsating synthesizers, dry-as-dust guitar riffs and improvisational outbursts interweave to create a soundscape that is sometimes driving, sometimes floating and creates a very unique, captivating atmosphere.
Ahmed Ag Kaedy describes it aptly: ‘Space jazz meets the rhythm of the camel.’

Bhek’zizwe - Thungisani 🇿🇦 Thungisani—a Zulu word meaning which means "Sow back together" Rather in the context of the song it means bring on your designer traditional regalia for a celebratory occasion" —Thungisani is a deeply spiritual and politically resonant album. A call to awareness, readiness, and cultural grounding, the project is Bhek’zizwe’s most expansive work to date. It features 11 tracks recorded in Johannesburg South Africa in Bhek’zizwe signature scratchy voice, Acoustic guitar and emotive lyricism.

Bhek’zizwe is a genre-defying South African musician rooted in storytelling and cultural preservation through sound. Blending the earthy depth of Afro Folk, the spiritual uplift of Gospel, the soul of Reggae, and the improvisational flair of Jazz, Bhek’zizwe crafts music that speaks to both ancestral memory and present-day resilience, he defines it as Culture meets urban music.

Slavery is (Not) a Choice - Ikenna Okeh 📚 The title of the latest by Ikenna Okeh takes its courageous nuance of confrontation from the now notorious and befuddled outburst of famous American rapper Kanye West, who declared to the outrage of most people of good conscience that ‘slavery was a choice’ for the victims.

In this thought-provoking one-act play which reverberates with well-calculated waves of sensibilities quite appropriate for the grim subject matter, Okeh creatively and covertly presents reparation as the elephant in the room of the global discussion on slavery, the silent currency of resolving the trauma of the trans-Atlantic slave trade in the African collective mind.

Justina Lee Brown - Billiki 🇳🇬 “Billiki,” tells a tragic story and contains melodies weaved around painful circumstances— something that is easy to understand upon first listen, whether or not you understand what Justina Lee Brown sings about in her native language, Yoruba.
Striking guitar chords and introspective harmonising from Brown set off the song, laying an intense atmosphere over which she tells the heartbreaking story of Billiki. Hinged on recurring cases of child abuse, sexual abuse and harassment in Nigeria and Africa in general.
“Billiki” tells about the eponymous character, a young girl who goes missing after her mother sends her to the stream to fetch some water for the house; shedding light on the deep levels of insecurity young children in Nigeria, especially girls, face even in their community.
