The Student Enterprise Program at Lesotho Agricultural College is an inspiring platform where 2nd-year students present their agricultural projects as part of their training. This year’s showcase featured a diverse range of ventures across the agricultural value chain — including crop production, vegetable tunnels, beef and lamb fattening, poultry, piggery, agro-processing, and more.
The initiative encourages students to approach agriculture not just as a science, but as a business — combining practical fieldwork with entrepreneurial thinking. Each group was tasked with developing, managing, and presenting a viable agribusiness project based on real-world conditions and market opportunities.
From well-researched production plans to innovative product packaging and marketing strategies, the presentations demonstrated strong commitment, creativity, and a clear understanding of agriculture’s role in economic development.
This program represents a powerful step toward building a new generation of skilled, business-minded farmers who can drive change in Lesotho’s food systems.
