DStv to end PSL sponsorship with Betway waiting in the wings - reports
DStv is reportedly set to end its PSL sponsorship early, creating uncertainty for the league.
The PSL is in talks to secure a new sponsor amid financial concerns over MultiChoice's stability and potential changes due to Canal+'s majority-stake acquisition.
Betway is a leading candidate to replace DStv as the league's title sponsor.
DStv has reportedly decided to end its sponsorship of the DStv Premiership a year earlier than expected, which has left the Premier Soccer Leaue (PSL) in a state of uncertainty ahead of the new football season.

According to SABC Sport, the PSL is actively discussing securing a new title sponsor for South Africa's premier league, currently known as the DStv Premiership.

There is less than a month to go before the new football season begins, with the date yet to be confirmed.

The sponsorship deal between DStv, who succeeded Absa's long tenure as the league's headline sponsor, and the PSL was finalized in September 2020.
However, there are concerns over MultiChoice's financial standing, which could potentially affect their support for both the Premiership and the MultiChoice Diski Challenge reserve league.

Recent reports indicate that Canal+, a French multimedia group, is on the brink of acquiring a majority stake in MultiChoice, introducing further uncertainty to the sponsorship landscape.

Financial specifics of DStv's initial agreement with the PSL remain undisclosed, with the league withholding financial disclosures since the 2019/20 season which was heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The uncertainty surrounding sponsorship has also delayed the announcement of the starting date of the 2024/25 season, with the league yet to release its fixtures schedule.

The PSL recently communicated with clubs, requesting them to hold off on finalizing their kits pending the unveiling of a potential new Premiership logo for the upcoming season.

Simultaneously, efforts are underway to secure a new title sponsor before the commencement of the 2024/25 season or the following campaign.

Betway, an online gambling firm that is also the title sponsor of the SA20 cricket league, has emerged as a leading contender to fill the sponsorship void.

Sky News host Gabriella Power has mocked US President Joe Biden for lying in a recent interview.

President Biden falsely claimed that the inflation rate was 9% when he began his presidency.

The inflation rate in January 2021 was 1.4%.

Kaizer Chiefs move to sign TS Galaxy goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly snapped up TS Galaxy goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari as they start to strengthen ahead of the new DStv Premiership season.
The 24-year-old Rwandan shot-stopper joined the Rockets from AS Kigali at the beginning of the last campaign.

Ntwari played 24 times as Galaxy ended their DStv Premiership 2023/24 league campaign in sixth place.

Amakhosi is one goalkeeper down following the departure of club captain Itumeleng Khune.

Chiefs have already signed left-back Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates, and Galaxy president Tim Sukazi says this is also a done deal.

He told SABC Sport: “This was a meeting of the minds after protracted negotiations. Chiefs strongly wanted the player (Fiacre Ntwari) and made that clear.

“It’s not that we did not need the player, but this is our business model.

“We’ve done this before and will reinvest into the project yet again.”

Sukazi added that Ntwari will add some much-needed quality to the Chiefs squad.

“I believe in SA football having a strong Kaizer Chiefs that is of a high standard, and Ntwari is the type of goalkeeper that will be able to contribute to their project. We cannot have a weak Chiefs, whether you and I like it or not,” he explained.

Member Of Nabi’s Technical Team Makes Chiefs U-Turn
Ayman Makroud has confirmed he will no longer be joining Kaizer Chiefs this season.

The highly-rated analyst was set to join Nasreddine Nabi’s technical team as a performance analyst after working together at ASFAR.
While he’s currently in France on holiday after the end of the Botola Pro season, Makroud said in a statement that he will no longer be joining Amakhosi.
Dear Kaizer [Chiefs] supporters, I deeply appreciate your warm messages, however, I regret to inform you that I will not be joining the club as planned,” he stated.
“I have decided to pursue another project will I will announce soon, thank you for you understanding and support.”

Makroud has been linked with a move to Wydad Atheltic Club in recent weeks but it remains to be seen where his next venture takes him.
