They liked your place. The décor was beautiful. Everything is top-notch. But you missed a few messages.

Now they're gone and so is your chance for a repeat booking.

Someone would say "what is mine is mine." Yes, what is yours is yours but not when there are avoidable lapses in your listing.

Let me tell you a brief experience l had last week:

l sent an urgent enquiry message on Whatsapp to someone whose resume says to offer 'prompt guest messaging.'

(My enquiries have got nothing to do with her resume though).

However, there was no response, no nothing, for days, until l got answers to my enquiries from someone else.

This left me wondering how is she going to do the job if she isn't available when it matters most.

Let's break it down simply:

🔹 Short-Term Rentals (STRs)-

Think Airbnb or vacation stays.

These are furnished spaces rented for a few nights to a few weeks.

They attract tourists, business travelers, or people in transition.

They offer higher income potential but require hands-on management, guest communication, cleaning turnovers, and reviews management.

🔹 Mid-Term Rentals (MTRs)-

Typically leased for 1 to 6 months.

Ideal for traveling nurses, digital nomads, or people relocating.

They offer more stability than STRs and less turnover, while still commanding higher rates than long-term leases.

They are often furnished and utilities-included.

🔹 Long-Term Rentals (LTRs)-

These are traditional leases—6 months to a year or more.

Tenants often bring their own furniture.

These rentals offer steady income with minimal turnover, but monthly earnings tend to be lower.

They also come with tenant laws and eviction procedures that vary by country or region.

Knowing the differences helps you choose what aligns with your goals, be it flexibility, income, or stability.
