ZANU-PF offering hope to the people

This morning President Mnangagwa who is ZANU-PF First Secretary will preside over the ongoing ZANU PF National People’s Conference in Mutare.

Speaking to members of the media, Ambassador Mutsvangwa said about three thousand delegates are expected to attend.

“The Conference will draw between 2 000 and 3 000 delegates representing all provinces and various levels of party structures, from provincial and district executives to branches and cells.

“We are a party which has a bottom-up structure to the top.

“We just don’t come from nowhere. We come from those structures and this is owed to our national liberation war because we had to organise the people to overcome the menacing organisational ascendancy of the British,” he said.
He added that according to what came from the Central Committee and the Politburo, the governance worksheet is offering hope for the people.

Police looking for three gunmen after constable killed in Tshwane shoot-out

A search is under way for three suspects in connection with the killing of a 33-year-old policewoman in Temba in Tshwane on Friday.

The constable, who was stationed at the Temba crime prevention unit was killed during a shoot-out with suspects in Chris Hani section, Block G, Tembe.

Gauteng spokesperson Brig Brenda Muridili said police were patrolling the area when they noticed a suspicious vehicle, a white VW Polo. When they approached the suspects, a shoot-out ensued and the constable was killed.

The suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot into nearby bushes.

Provincial commissioner Lt-Gen Tommy Mthombeni said: “On Sunday, we will as a province be commemorating four of our officials who were killed in the line of duty. It is disheartening that we will be doing so with this incident still fresh on our minds, serving as a reminder that we are under attack from criminals. We will not be deterred, we will carry on the fight against the scourge of police killings and crime in this province”.

UEFA confirms Chelsea have balanced books

UEFA has confirmed Chelsea successfully balanced their transfer spending this summer to comply with the terms of a settlement agreement for breaking financial rules.

Chelsea were fined £26.9m (€31m) in July for breaking UEFA’s football earnings and squad cost ratio rules. As part of a settlement agreement, Chelsea could only register new signings for their Champions League squad if their transfer fees were offset by selling players who were in their Conference League squad last season.

The departures of players such as Noni Madueke, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson means Chelsea have been able to include new signings Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato in their squad for the league phase of the Champions League.

Dalot pulls out of Portugal squad with injury

Manchester United have confirmed that Diogo Dalot has picked up an injury while on Portugal duty.

The defender has pulled out of the national team set-up and has returned to United. Lazio's Nuno Tavares - formerly of Arsenal - has been called up to replace him.

Dalot has played a part in all of United's four matches this season - starting three of them.

He is now a major doubt for United's next game - the Manchester derby with rivals City on September 14.
