City of Johannesburg Publishes 2026/27 Municipal Tariffs
The City of Johannesburg has published its approved tariffs for the 2026/27 financial year, giving residents access to the latest charges for electricity, water, property rates, sanitation and refuse removal.
The new tariffs came into effect on 1 July 2026 and will apply throughout the 2026/27 financial year. Residents are encouraged to review the updated charges to better understand how their monthly municipal bills are calculated.
The City says the published tariffs outline the costs for key municipal services, including:
Electricity
Water and sanitation
Property rates
Refuse removal
The approved tariff guide shows an average electricity tariff increase of 8.63%, while water and sanitation charges increase by 11%, refuse removal by 6.2%, and property rates by 3.6%.
