When I first met Zachariah Kekgopye, aka Bra Zakes, it was when we attended our 1st Landcruiser Club Botswana expedition in 2023. We were doing the Central Kgalagadi Game Reserve (CKGR) & Khutse Game Reserve.

Myself & Bra Zakes just clicked, & I gave him and all those fellow members who were part of the trip a sticker. He requested for more stickers.

Bra Zakes is such a lovely person, & every time, he would check with us if we were ok. He made us feel so welcome. During our second expedition, we were so good buddies that he always would come to me and say Xoli, that's how he calls me, a wena le Musa, are you ok & enjoying yourselves. Early in the mornings, he would come to my tent & wake me up so that we can prepare for our trip. He always shares jokes with us and is just such a jovial person.

Recently, during our Radisele expedition, he was the host of the club on his farm Rhodes Farm & Camping Sites in the Serowe District of Botswana. The morning before, we departed as we had stayed longer overlanding the area. I had just gifted him one of the BBA T-shirts. He then told me that he wanted to show us something else. He took us and showed us all his Toyota Landcruisers on the farm and the stickers of Black Boy Adventures that he put on those vehicles.

He told me that the reason he took more than one sticker from me was. He further told me that as he is a very enthusiastic overlander & outdoor enthusiast who travels the length & breadth of Botswana, the Southern African Region & as such wants to promote & market BBA wherever he travels. I was so humbled by that gesture of his. Kea leboga tsala yame.

Enjoying a beautiful winter golden sunrise in the Northern Cape Province of Azania (South Africa). We stopped to take these shots between the Batlhaping village of Schmidtsdrift and the Griekwa hamlet of Campbell on the N8 about 80km west of the City of Kimberley, ko Teemaneng, the home of Black Boy Adventures.

If you want to overland in a province with 3 different deserts, one being the only mountain desert in the world, then come to the Northern Cape Province here in Mzantsi (South Africa). Our province is a paradise for overlanders & outdoor enthusiasts.

Upon returning from our Radisele expedition with our buddies at Landcruiser Club Botswana on our way back, we dropped in at Robot Auto 4x4 customs in Gaborone to meet our friends Abdus Jelaabdeen and his younger Zayd Jelaabdeen who co-owns this business.

Before meeting them in person, I was a friend with fellow overlander Abdus for some time on social media, and we were following each other on various platforms.

These brothers run an impressive 4x4 custom building business in the Capital City of Botswana.

We had a good chat and committed to one day going on an overlanding trip together.

After leaving these buddies we stopped at one of the Engen filling stations in Gaborone to fill Musafir up and then headed south to the Tlokweng boarder gate to exit Botswana and do the last parts of our overlanding trip via North West and Gauteng Provinces of South Africa.

We are thankful for Engen Botswana for having made the Radisele Expedition possible.

We are now having the new Gomad canopy on Musafir for about 5 months. We are pleased with the sleek look that the canopy has given our vehicle. The esthetics of Musafir has improved tremendously.

It's lighter compared to my old canopy as it is made out of aluminum. The aerodynamics of the canopy is also better and has somewhat improved the fuel efficiency of Musafir.

The possibilitie to add on accessories to this canopy are endless as we continue to build our rig into a fully fitted overlander ready to tackle the African Bushveld. It's practicality is also superb with 4 gullwing openings on the sides and the rear opening as well.

Around the campfire after a day of overlanding is where the best stories are told. It's the time to chill, have a drink, prepare & eat supper, and afterwards gesels lekker before retiring to our tents for the night.

We had the entire camping site to ourselves at Rhodes Farm. It was a beautiful and quiet evening.

I had promised to take my family to the Ditshoswaneng Community Art Centre in the township of Ikhutseng in Warrenton.

This past Easter Monday, I fulfilled my promise and took them there. We met up with Vuyo Mafafo, who is the founder & curator of the centre. Vuyo is the son of eminent Galeshewe artist Bra Rochester Mafafo, aka I-Rock. He took us through the place and explained to us the work they are involved with and the community projects they engage with.

We were very impressed and had hope that community activism is still taking place within our communities.

Our visit also coincided with our first planning meeting of collaborative activities between Ditshoswane & Black Boy Adventures. Be on the lookout in the press for announcements soon.
