Pope Leo XIV encouraged young people not to “follow those who use the words of faith to divide” but to work for reconciliation.

As we honour the young people who came before us and fought for a better future, we are reminded that progress is built one step at a time

To the youth of South Africa: keep believing in yourself, keep chasing your goals and never underestimate the power of your voice. Every idea, every effort and every step forward matters. Change doesn’t always happen in giant leaps. Sometimes it starts with showing up, choosing to keep going, helping someone else, speaking up for what you believe in or refusing to give up on your dreams.
Happy Youth day

A Brief History of the Devotion

The Early Beginnings ❤️‍🔥

The seeds of the devotion to the Sacred Heart were sown during the earliest days of Christianity. The Gospel narratives of St. John resting his head on Jesus’ heart during the Last Supper, and the piercing of Jesus’ side from which blood and water flowed, symbolizing the birth of the Church, were the first echoes of this devotion.

In the 13th century, a Benedictine nun, St. Gertrude the Great, experienced a mystical vision where she was invited to listen to the heartbeat of Christ. This intimate encounter filled her with profound joy and peace, marking a significant milestone in the history of the Sacred Heart devotion.

The Heart: A Symbol of Divine Love 🫀

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is more than a mere symbol. It is the physical Heart of Jesus, a Heart that loved us during His earthly life, poured forth its blood on Mount Calvary for our salvation, and continues to love us in the Eucharist. The Heart of Jesus is the emblem of His infinite love for humanity, a love so great that it led Him to sacrifice His life for us.

The Heart of Jesus is also seen as a furnace of divine love. Its burning rays of love are capable of rekindling faith and love in hearts grown cold and ungrateful. It is a testament to God’s infinite love, the symbol of His own self-sacrificing love for humanity.

❤️‍🔥 The Promises of Jesus ❤️‍🔥

In His revelations to St. Margaret Mary, Jesus made twelve extraordinary promises to those who practice and promote the Devotion to His Sacred Heart. These promises range from the assurance of divine grace to the gift of final perseverance at the hour of death.

1. Jesus will give all the graces necessary for one’s state of life.

2. He will establish peace in their families.

3. He will console them in all their troubles.

4. He will be their refuge during life and, above all, in death.

5. He will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.

6. Sinners will find in His Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.

7. Lukewarm souls will become fervent.

8. Fervent souls will quickly rise to high perfection.

9. He will bless every place where an image of His Heart is exposed and honored.

10. He will give priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.

11. Those who promote this devotion will have their names written in His Heart.

12. Jesus promises the grace of final perseverance to those who receive Holy Communion on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months.

These promises illustrate the depth of Jesus’ love and His longing for a personal relationship with each one of us. They serve as a source of hope and reassurance for believers, encouraging them to entrust their lives to the Sacred Heart.

The Tower of Jesus Christ at Sagrada Família is being inaugurated today, June 10, 2026, by Pope Leo XIV.

At 566 feet (172.5 meters) tall, it is now the highest point of any church in the world, surpassing Ulm Cathedral in Germany.

The date is not chosen by accident. Today marks exactly 100 years since Antoni Gaudí, the architect who designed every detail of this tower, was fatally struck by a tram on the Gran Via in Barcelona. He was 73, and Sagrada Família is far from finished when he dies.

Gaudí always believed he would never see the church completed in his lifetime. He reportedly said the project belongs to his clients: God, and future generations. He was right. Construction began in 1882, and the tower's enormous five-story cross, weighing 24 tons and designed to look like a crystal, was only placed at the very top earlier this year.

Pope Leo XIV is only the third pope ever to visit Spain, and the first to come to Barcelona since Benedict XVI consecrated the basilica in 2010. The cornerstone of Sagrada Família is laid under Pope Leo XIII in 1882. Today, his namesake closes the circle.

Have you ever visited Sagrada Família? Did you see the tower going up?

Did you know that the only saint personally promised Heaven by Jesus Christ was a convicted criminal hanging on a cross?...

Did you know that the only saint personally promised Heaven by Jesus Christ was a convicted criminal hanging on a cross?

His name was St. Dismas, the Good Thief.

As Jesus hung dying on the Cross, two criminals were crucified beside Him.

One mocked Him.

“If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”

But the other thief saw something different. Though he saw Jesus beaten, bleeding, and crowned with thorns, he recognized what many others could not: this suffering man was truly a King.

Turning to the other criminal, he rebuked him:
"Do you not fear God? We are receiving the due reward of our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong." (Luke 23:40-41)

Then, with humility and faith, he turned to Jesus and made a simple request:
"Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." (Luke 23:42)

He had no chance to make up for his past. No opportunity to perform great acts of holiness. No time left to build a reputation for virtue.

Yet he did something extraordinary.

He believed.

In the darkest moment of his life, he placed his trust in Christ.

And Jesus gave him a promise unlike any other:
"Amen, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43)

With these words, the Good Thief—known to Christian tradition as St. Dismas—became the only saint personally promised Heaven by Jesus Himself.

His story is one of the greatest testimonies to Divine Mercy ever recorded.

St. Dismas reminds us that no sinner is beyond God's forgiveness. No past is too broken. No soul is too far gone. As long as there is sincere repentance and faith in Christ, there is hope.

His life teaches us never to despair of God's mercy and never to give up praying for those who seem far from Him.

One humble prayer changed his eternity:

"Jesus, remember me."

May we make that same prayer our own.

St. Dismas, the Good Thief, pray for us. 🙏✝️
