🕯 Country Music Icon Dolly Parton Dies at 80

Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, her family announced on Tuesday.

Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, confirmed her passing in a video shared on her official Instagram, saying she "died peacefully today in Nashville." No cause of death was disclosed. Parton had faced health challenges in recent months, following the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, in March 2025.

Known as the "Queen of Country," Parton's six-decade career produced iconic hits including "Jolene," "9 to 5" and "I Will Always Love You," alongside a celebrated parallel career in film and television. She was also widely admired for her philanthropy, founding the Imagination Library, a children's literacy programme that has distributed millions of books worldwide, and for building her Dollywood theme park into one of America's top entertainment destinations.

Instead of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Zolani Tete Shot Dead in Mdantsane

Former two-weight world boxing champion Zolani Tete has been shot dead at his home in NU17, Mdantsane.

Police are reportedly on the scene investigating the shooting. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities have yet to officially confirm the reported death.

The reported killing comes just weeks after Tete made headlines with his long-awaited boxing comeback following the end of his four-year suspension. His ban expired at the end of July, with the Mdantsane-born champion determined to return to the ring and pursue another world title.

Tete, who became a two-division world champion and holds the record for the fastest knockout in a world title fight, had recently spoken about continuing his legacy in boxing.
