Donovan Wolf from Jeffreys Bay was found 'Not Guilty' of murdering a Wavecrest resident, Clyde Stuurman, on 10 February 2021.
Judge Avinash Govindjee handed down the 'Not Gulty' verdict last Friday, 12 June and Wolf was discharged . The State had alleged that Wolf killed Stuurman after shooting at him in an open field.

The case carried on for five years and at the time of his arrest he was charged with premeditated murder of Stuurman. During previous court appearances, Wolf claimed he acted in self-defence, stating that Stuurman charged at him with a knife.

Judge Govindjee on Friday stated Wolf’s version was reasonably true since Wolf chased the suspect after reporting to neighbourhood watch and help was en route. The court found Wolf's actions were in lawful self defence and the State had failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Wolf did not act in self defence.

After being struck by three natural disasters in short sequence, we are reaching out to our community to sow into us, so that we can plant again.
We have lost almost everything, but not our determination to keep doing what we do!
We have created a special collection of items that can be purchased to support us in our recovery. These funds will help us buy the seedlings and materials we need to start again, and help us to 'keep sowing'.

We have launched a special flood relief collection of goodies and vouchers. To support us, you can purchase one of these items, or donate directly on the back a buddy campaign:

City of Joburg residents are trying to keep the lights on but are now being met with more red tape.

We are challenging the City of Johannesburg’s new six-step solar approval process, which adds unnecessary costs, delays, and confusion for households investing in reliable power.

We already have compliance systems in place. So why create barriers that discourage people from becoming energy-resilient?

Kouga Chronicle 4 June: Yesterday emergency teams were on high standby, but thankfully during the day there were no reports of actual rescues, mass evacuations, or big structural damage across the area.

Fortunately, it was not a day of actual disasters, despite the Orange Level 8 weather warning. There were no confirmed reports of rescues, structural collapses, or severe flooding in Kouga’s villages and towns.

But heavy downpours caused flooding of some roads and disrupted traffic and there were some road closures announced. There were also warnings and then orders for some residents in low lying areas, particularly along the Gamtoos River, to evacuate.

In places like Humansdorp, Hankey, Patensie, Jeffreys Bay outskirts, St Francis Bay and others, the rain mainly caused some localised pooling on roads and made driving tricky on already wet surfaces, but nothing escalated into serious flooding or collapses.

According to Snow Report’s advance forecast, snowfalls are possible from late Wednesday through to Saturday in South Africa and Lesotho (see map) with heavy snow currently indicated for parts of the Eastern Cape, KZN and Lesotho, on the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban, and heavy snow around Van Reenen.

Quoting the SA Weather Service (SAWS), Snow Report says an intense cut-off low is expected to affect the EC from Wednesday, bringing a combination of snow, heavy rain, flooding, very cold conditions and very rough seas. The advance warning is to alert local authorities, farmers and those travelling in these areas next week of the likelihood of these weather conditions.

The heaviest snowfall period is currently indicated for Thursday-Friday, and this could cause significant travel complications and major challenges for farmers in some areas marked in purple (10 cm+) and blue (25cm+) on the map.
