Atuba Construction workers are expected to report back on duty this morning following the instruction from Business forum to halt operations yesterday.

According to business forum Chairperson Mr Sehoshe ,they had a meeting yesterday with the construction company and the Swartland Municipality Mayor just to clarify on how the company from Cape Town ended up working in Malmesbury. It is said that Atuba complained about late submission of required documents by the local companies which holds back the operations. However the solution was to instruct the newly appointed company to work until Friday before a new company from surrounding area resume the operations on Monday next week.

Malmesbury business forum has halted Malmesbury High School construction.

According to the reports, earlier today the forum informed the Atuba Construction Company to halt their operations due to their unresolved disputes owing to the selection of companies to work within the area. The construction company was supposed to select the local sub contractor to partake in the project.

Atuba Construction CLO Anathi Sentyi said the company holds monthly meetings with PLC and business forum members for some updates and the communication. She said they have local companies and surroundings and the problem they are facing with local companies is that, they don't submit documents in time and that delays the project as they are working on schedule. However the company assists them with safety file and registration to BIBC. She also mentioned that the company called BIBC to the site just to assist with outstanding documentation and compliance. She said they are having local companies that specialize with brick laying however the challenge is with the compliance which sets the project back and the quality is the problem however the assistance is provided.

She said there is a percentage which allows the local companies to be part of the project however they have a right to take companies from outside the area if there is no quality locally however that doesn't mean that they are expelling the local companies. She also confirmed that ,there is one company from Cape Town that is brought up to work in a project which is based on the quality they bring since they are running out of time to finish the project.

Sentyi says there seems to be a communication breakdown between the Chairperson and the forum because they do communicate and they have minutes of all meetings held.

Malmesbury business forum Chairperson and member of PLC Mr Naha Sehoshe confirmed the halt. Sehoshe said he received a mandate that today the business forum is stopping operations on the site demanding answers and he decided to go and report to the Police Station so that they can come and observe on the proceedings due to the fact that ,they were not fighting with the company but only wants to be clear on the process. He said the ward councilor Mr Ngozi was also invited on behalf of the community and there was no violence. He said they are waiting for the meeting with the company earlier today at 15h00 to come up with the solution and updates if the operations should resume tomorrow.

Calls to cancel an award winning podcast grow louder following hurtful and racist remarks

Backlash wasn't just loud but its mounting into legal action against the the online podcast following racist and hurtful remarks towards Colord Nation. Patriotic Alliance called on the party legal team to file a case against the podcast team and also gave DSTV seven days to cancel them on airing their podcast. On his statement on Facebook yesterday he said "No one wants to see young people destroyed, it is however a teachable moment for these young people and their peers that racism has no place in South Africa, to let them continue as if nothing happened is the surest way of destroying them. Consequence is a great teacher"
