Jerry Boshoga, a Pretoria businessman and farmer kidnapped in November 2024, is still missing, and authorities have not officially named the perpetrators. However, police investigations and a commission of inquiry have strongly linked his disappearance to his former business partner, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala.
Key details regarding the case:
Suspect: Vusimuzi Matlala, a controversial tenderpreneur, has been publicly accused of involvement by Boshoga's family and a police witness ("Witness C") testifying at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Evidence: Witness C, a member of the Gauteng Counterintelligence Operations Unit, testified that a torn white sheet found at Matlala's home during a raid matched a sheet seen in a ransom video sent to the Boshoga family.
Motive: According to an anonymous police source, Boshoga's kidnapping may be linked to a failed R30 million drug deal. Matlala reportedly claimed Boshoga borrowed R5 million from him to buy a machine to produce drugs.
