The City of Mbombela Executive Mayor Cllr SE Makushe -Mazibuko had an official Engagement with SAM SAM( Team Numbi) and Curaçao Delegation.

This exchange forms part of a two-part initiative promoting cultural diplomacy, tourism, and motorsport collaboration between South Africa and the island nation.

The visit to the City is to experience the province’s natural beauty, with a curated visit to the Kruger National Park. This visit also presents an opportunity to showcase the City’s status as a world- class eco-tourism destination.

Team Numbi, led by our own renowned local spinner Sam Sam, will play a dual role — as both part of the hosting delegation in Mpumalanga and official representatives traveling to Curaçao from 26 August to 2 September 2025.

Sam Sam and five of South Africa’s top spinners will showcase our culture and spinning tradition abroad in the second leg of the exchange.

The G20 Townhall Outreach programme, Held under the theme "Financial inclusion for economic development: creating access to benefit grassroots economies", with the aim to challenge the exclusion of youth, women, persons with disability, the marginalised from historic locations such as townships and rural areas.

On her welcoming remarks the City Mayor Cllr SE Makushe- Mazibuko confirms the City unwavering support to this programme.

She further urged all the citizens of Mbombela to continue to be good ambassadors of this province whenever they step out to visit either for business or leisure, just as indicated by the Minister recently when engaging with stakeholders amid the looming US's 30% tariff debacle which comes into effect today.

She further emphasised on the need to begin to diversify our market outflows for the sustainability of our businesses.

In her closing remarks I quote “ Programme Director, I would be doing great injustice to all the women of our city and province if, as a woman leader, I do not reflect on the month wherein we are supposed to honour and appreciate the pioneering spirit of those women of 1956 who defied all odds and faced the apartheid regime head-on, thereby sowing a seed of the freedom we enjoy today. It is however disheartening to learn about men who in society who still see women as less human. Our observation is that the onslaught on women seems to intensify during Women's Month. We will however not be deterred in saluting the women of our country especially those who continue to inspire hope, tackle socio-economic issues and lead from the front, despite all these challenges.”
