Here's a scene-setter caption that incorporates Executive Mayor Walter Mngomezulu's remarks and a little piece of Perdekop history:

From a hill that once offered refuge to horses during outbreaks of horse sickness to a community with growing opportunities in tourism, mining and economic development, Perdekop's story continues to evolve.

Addressing the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the 1976 Youth Uprisings, the Executive Mayor of the Gert Sibande District Municipality, Cllr Walter Matukuthela Mngomezulu, reflected on the history of Perdekop and highlighted the area's economic potential and strategic importance to the district.

Perdekop, which means "Horse Hill", owes its name to the high-lying area where farmers historically brought their horses to escape disease in the lower-lying regions.

Mpumi Mbeta and The Midday Escape are broadcasting live from the commemorative event at Perdekop Sport Ground as Mpumalanga marks 50 years since the youth of 1976 helped shape the country's future.

Join Mpumi Mbethe and The Midday Escape as she broadcasts live from the official Mpumalanga commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Youth Uprisings at Perdekop Sport Ground on Monday, 15 June 2026.

What's your take on polygamy? If someone has the financial means to support multiple partners, does that make polygamy more acceptable, or is money not the real issue?

Welcome to the Sunday edition of RISE fm Weekend Evenings.

We start our 1st hour with our Sunday situation, and it goes like so:

Heita Psyfer, I need some quick advice bhuti. I broke up with my lady exactly a week ago. The breakup was definitive, and there’s no turning back. The problem is, she still has a bunch of her stuff at my house—clothes, toiletries, and some personal items.

Right now, I’m stuck. Part of me wants to message her to come collect her things so I can get total closure and clear my space. But another part of me is worried that reaching out will look like I’m creating an excuse to talk to her or beg her back.

Should I call her to pick them up, wait silently for her to get in touch first, or just pack everything into a black bag and drop it off at charity?
