Dark Moon is SACC registered Maine C**n Cattery based in Cape Town, South Africa. We are dedicated to raise healthy, well socialized Maine C***s that conform to the breed standard. Our goal is an ongoing education to keep improving and to contribute to the work of preserving the Maine C**n breed. All of our Kings and Queens are DNA tested for Hyperthrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Spinal Muscular At

rophy (SMA) and Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PKDef), with additional HCM echo-cardiograms in efforts to ensure that any genetic predispositions towards illnesses are being minimized. Results of health screening can be viewed on our website in each of our King's & Queen's profile pages.

🌍✈️ 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱!

𝗕𝗶𝗻𝘅 — 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗲 — 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗽𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 (siblings from our U2 litter) have officially relocated with their family to the 𝗨𝗦𝗔, the very land where the Maine C**n breed originated! 🇺🇸🐾

Their mom Jacki says they’ve settled in beautifully and are loving their new 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲-𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘀 — plenty of space to zoom, explore, and rule their kingdom! 🏡😻

Their family adores them, and one thing is certain: 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝗼. 🤍✨

🐾 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀’ 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 🐾

When an 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿 retires a cat, it’s done out of 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 — never neglect. These cats were never unwanted or mistreated. They’ve been 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱, fed premium nutrition, health-tested, and 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲. 💕

Adopting a 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝘁 doesn’t mean “saving” them because the breeder no longer wants them — it marks a 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿: from breeding program to beloved pet life. 😻

𝗥𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝘁 is never easy. Each is placed under 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 by someone who has always put their wellbeing first. 🌿
