✨🐾 Litter Announcement! 🐾✨

After a 2-year break, our beautiful Otilia is expecting kittens again - this time with the dashing Gatsby! 💕 We can’t wait to see the magic this pairing will bring.

Otilia is already the proud mom of show superstars Dark Moon Watson and Dark Moon Quasar - from her two previous litters, both of whom have achieved impressive results in the show world at such a young age. 🌟

It’s been a while since we’ve had the pitter-patter of tiny paws in our home, and we’re beyond excited to welcome this new litter in October. Stay tuned! 🐾✨

🐾 Let’s talk about size & weight - because I get asked this all the time (and it's one of my pet peeves) 🫣

❌ No breeder can guarantee how big a cat will be
❌ No breeder can forsee the weight in the future

👉 Maine C***s are a slow-growing breed - they don’t stop growing at 12–18 months like most cats. They keep growing for up to 4 - 5 years, each at their own pace. ⏳🐱

Even in the same litter, one kitten may grow faster while another catches up later.

✨ Growth is influenced by numerous factors:
💚 Genetics
💚 Nutrition
💚 Environment & stress
💚 Health

⚠️ And here’s the truth: bigger isn’t always better.
A big cat may look impressive, but too much weight puts strain on the joints, spine and can lead to various health issues. 🚫🐾

What really matters? 💕
A steady,, healthy growth and a happy, well-cared-for kitty - no matter the number on the scale! And let's not forget, the "size" doesn't necessarily equal the sheer body mass 🐱💫

Dark Moon had the honour of attending the SACC Cat of the Year 2025, national cat show / competition event , this past weekend in Gauteng! It was a busy, wonderful weekend spent with friends and fellow cat lovers. Thank you to everyone who came by to meet us- it was so lovely to meeting you all! 💜

✨ Show Results highlight:
Our beloved Watson placed 20th in the Entire (All Breeds Adult) Class! We're incredibly proud of him- not only did he qualify for COTY for the third consecutive year, but he also climbed five spots in the rankings compared to last year. What a star! 🌟

🏆 We're equally thrilled to share that Dark Moon was, once again, named one of the Top 10 Breeders of the Year , placing 6th overall! Huge thanks to all our amazing show homes- your dedication to show your amazing felines helped make this achievement possible. 💫
