The big banks are closing ATMs in South Africa and they are attributing this to lower demand for cash, increased use of paypoints and electronic payments.

🇨🇳🇺🇸 China rejected US attempts to resume arms control negotiations after the November 2023 nuclear weapons meeting - US representative to Semafor

“Unfortunately, the PRC declined the subsequent meeting and did not provide a substantive response to the options proposed by the United States,” a State Department spokesman said.

The representative stated , that the Biden administration has proposed “common sense steps to address the fundamental risks of conflict and uncontrolled escalation in the nuclear and space domains.” This included improving crisis communications with Beijing, introducing pre-launch notifications for strategic ballistic missile test launches and efforts to reduce tensions in space.

Chinese Embassy spokesman in Washington Liu Penyu said the US should "stop its megaphone diplomacy" and instead called on "countries with large nuclear arsenals" to "significantly and substantially" reduce their own nuclear arsenals for further arms control negotiations. The remarks did not single out the United States but were an explicit reference to Washington, which is estimated to have about 5,000 nuclear warheads.

🇮🇱🇮🇷 Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed the army to propose targets in Iran, attacks on which would “send a signal,” but without casualties.

This could be a facility in Tehran or a cyber attack, writes the Washington Post.

Israel is discussing a response to the Iranian attack that will not anger allies and ruin the opportunity to build an alliance against Tehran, the article said.

And the Israeli Channel 13 reports that the Israeli Air Force has completed the development of its plans to strike Iran.

Meanwhile, CNN reports that Israel has postponed its ground operation in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah due to the Iranian attack.

According to the TV channel, the Israeli Air Force was planning to scatter leaflets in some areas of the city on April 15. Rafah is home to more than a million Palestinians, most of them refugees from northern Gaza.
