All Gold Tomato Sauce started in Paarl, and is still one of SA’s biggest tomato sauce brands!

All Gold Tomato Sauce has been a South African staple since 1908. It began when John Semble, a Scottish chemist, brought a tomato sauce recipe to H. Jones and Company, a jam factory in Paarl.

His method involved placing muslin bags filled with herbs and spices into crushed tomatoes, giving the sauce a distinct flavour that quickly became popular.

The brand gained attention in 1947 when it was served to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth during their royal visit to South Africa. By 1959, production had expanded to large scale facilities in Paarl and Langlaagte.

Memorable adverts included the 1975 “jumping tomatoes” commercial and the 1990 “36 Tomatoes” campaign, emphasizing the sauce’s freshness and quality.

All Gold was awarded a gold medal at the Monde Quality Awards in Brussels in 1992, and new varieties, such as All Gold Light and Hot & Spicy, were introduced in 1993.

Today, under Tiger Brands, tomatoes are grown mainly in Musina, Limpopo, and Lutzville, Western Cape, with over 100 farmers supplying the brand. Only tomatoes meeting the proper sweetness are used.

Harvested tomatoes are processed in Musina and Lutzville and packaged at Tiger Brands’ Boksburg plant, supporting local agriculture and jobs.

A huge congratulations to our 2 hockey superstars, Sian Maart and Carlon Mentoor, who have been selected to represent South Africa at the 2025 FIH Men’s Junior World Cup, taking place in Madurai and Chennai, India from 28t November to 10 December 2025.

Each player needs R40000, and are in the process of raising funds. If you can assist, let us know.

It’s not often you share a table with an international multi award winning couture designer.

Paarl’s Jacque Lagrange owner of Jacque Lagrange Couture.

His designs have been on catwalks all over the world, from New York, to Paris, and several other fashion capitals.

He told me the story of his first fashion show that took place in the Town Hall when he was 13, and now a few decades later, his back at the town Hall, and celebrities and artists were wearing his designs at the Paarl Langtafel Event!

A huge congratulations to our youth cricketers who have been selected to represent the Boland U16 and U19 Girls Squads at the CSA National Week.

The U16 team will play in Gqeberha from 8-13 December , and the U19 team will play from 15-20 December in Potchefstroom.
