[IN PICTURES] The Education Portfolio Committee, under the leadership of ANC Whip, Hon. Hlengiwe Mavimbela (MPL), today held a critical engagement with the Department of Education. The programme was further enriched by the participation of Hon. Fikile Masiko (ANC MPL), a dedicated member of this Committee.

On the agenda were key matters including the 1st Quarter Financial and Performance Reports, oversight on schools such as Ukuphumula Secondary, Durban Girls College, Emtshibeni Secondary, and Phuthini Secondary, as well as follow-ups on Committee resolutions relating to infrastructure projects, the NSNP, and Norms and Standards.

Through this meeting, the ANC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the Department of Education continues to deliver quality teaching and learning, effective financial management, infrastructure development, and the protection of learners’ dignity across KwaZulu-Natal.

[IN PICTURES] The Economic Development and Tourism Portfolio Committee, led by Hon. Mafika Mndebela (ANC MPL), is currently underway and is having a critical engagement with the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority (KZNERA) on the state of the gambling and liquor industries in the province.

The Committee, joined by ANC Chief Whip, Hon. Super Zuma, received progress on job creation, transformation, compliance enforcement, and revenue collection, while also raising firm concerns on challenges such as illicit alcohol trading, inspector shortages, and non-compliant tavern owners.

Duma acquiring experience and valuable lessons in Gauteng

IN PICTURES: The MEC for Transport and Human Settlements remarked on the second day of the visit led by the Premier Thami Ntuli.

“The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government benchmarking exercise in Gauteng has given us the opportunity to strengthen working relations between ourselves and various government departments in the province."

" In particular, I have learned valuable lessons during my interaction with the Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, the MEC for Roads and Transport Ms Kedibone Diale Tlabela, other MECs and staff.”

[MEDIA ALERT] ANC-LED PREMIER, COMMUNITY SAFETY AND LIAISON PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE MEETING

Today at 14h00, the ANC-led Community Safety and Liaison Portfolio Committee, under the leadership of Chairperson Hon. Mbali Frazer (ANC MPL), convenes an important engagement with stakeholders in the safety and security sector.

On the agenda are critical inputs from Community Policing Forums (CPFs), the Youth Desk, KZNCCPA, and Neighbourhood Watch structures, reflecting our people-centred approach to strengthening community safety.

The Committee will also engage the Department of Community Safety and Liaison to ensure accountability, responsive action, and a united way forward in building safer communities for all.
