Every now and then this image pops up and I’m reminded of the event; a beautiful SpiritFest that took place at a superb venue on the banks of the Olifants River in the Western Cape area of South Africa. It was a festival of celebration! We danced, and listened and did loads of every description of yoga. It reminded me of my purpose as a teacher (and ongoing student) of Kundalini yoga; the yoga of awareness, that gives one the opportunity to bring about transformation in life. I bow in gratitude for the way it supports and informs me, year after year.

Letting go of that which holds us in its grip, be it a person, a situation, a memory, an identity.
The letting go can also require a passage of time for healing to happen.
It’s a process of moving away, from hanging on, to finding ease and liberation.
By shining a light into a dark corner of ourselves, with movement, breath and meditation, we find a lightness of being, softening, trusting and allowing. Ultimately the prize is freedom and liberation.

Hello I’m Atma and I’ve been practicing yoga for over 50 years and teaching for 30 of those. It’s this Souls work and highest service to share the gift of yoga. I’ve learnt to be kind to myself with gentle, quiet Yin yoga. Her polar opposite is yang or masculine solar Kundalini yoga. It’sdeeply transformative. This yoga is abundantly generous in its broad spiritual content, its the rhythmic movement with the breath, the music, the mantra, the deep meditation. It never stops teaching you, and urging you to be the best you can be.

Thank you, Billy the Bee in Cape Town, for the wonderful package of yoga props, especially the two-toned Asoka mat that I was badly in need of!

You know, one of my favorite things to do at the end of the day is put on some music and get on my mat, then simply let my body show me what it needs. Guess where I’ll be this evening!

I’m looking forward to playing with my smart and sturdy black chair. The teachings of BKS Iyengar have applied the chairs to be used with very many of the asanas, including head and shoulder stands. Did you think chair yoga is something new?!

Then I have the strap, a very long one, so I can happily tie myself in knots as I coax my body into correct alignment!

Yoga blocks again are handy to prop and support in any number of different ways and I look forward to using this sturdy and helpful tool!

I’m a very happy Yogini today. Heartfelt gratitude to the Billy the Bee team.
