[ ]WARD 15 IS SPOILED FOR CHOICE!

With just over a month to go before the 2026 Local Government Elections, Ward 15 of the Greater Letaba Municipality is set to be one of the most hotly contested wards.

The reality has now hit home, with five councillor candidates vying to lead the ward.

The ANC, EFF, ActionSA, Mayibuye and an Independent candidate have all fielded candidates for the ward.

Who will residents of Ward 15 entrust with their vote? .

[ STORY] Damaged pavement in Senwamokgope left unfixed for over two years.

Between the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure's Sekgosese Cost Centre and the Greater Letaba Municipality, who must fix the damaged pavement on Senwamokgope Township's main road?

It is alleged that the pavement was damaged during the Mopani District Municipality water reticulation project almost two years ago and, to date, has not been repaired.

The street is the lifeline of the township as it houses the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Sekgosese Cost Centre, Department of Education, Department of Social Development, Department of Home Affairs, SASSA, Department of Justice, Sekgosese SAPS and the Greater Letaba Municipality sub-office.

Surprisingly, the damaged pavement is only about 100 metres away from the Sekgosese Cost Centre.

Motorists are bearing the brunt. "Every now and then, we visit fitment centres to replace CV joints and fix tyres," said one motorist who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Residents are now calling for urgent intervention before more vehicles are damaged and an accident occurs.

[ NEWS] Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) personnel at Voorspoort Forestry, commonly known as SEPHANYO, in the Sekgosese area, Limpopo, say they have not been paid for two months.

The workers allege they are owed their July and August salaries and are now entering the third month without pay.

"We are owed our July and August salaries, and now we are in the third month. These salaries are our lifeline. We depend on them. Now we are stuck with nothing to provide for our families. Even though we are not paid for the mentioned months, they still expect us to perform our tasks to the best of our ability. We plead with the powers that be to at least take us seriously," one Sephanyo EPWP worker told Sekgosese Times on condition of anonymity.

Sekgosese Times attempted to get comment from programme manager Ntwanano Mavunda, who answered the call and then dropped it.

Efforts to get an official comment from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment are ongoing. .

[ ] As the 2026 Local Government Elections campaigns gather momentum in the Norman Mashabane Region, political activities and factions appear to be the order of the day.

Today, Sunday, September 6, 2026, the ANC Letaba Sub-region convened its Local Elections Team at Mohlakamosoma village, Ward 26, where all 30 branches were expected to attend.

On the same day, a church visit programme was held in Ward 4 of the Letaba Sub-region. Regional spokesperson Hasani Peter Ngobeni was seen on social media counting branches in attendance. Former Greater Letaba Municipality Mayor Peter Matlou was also observed at the same programme.

The question now is whether these parallel activities will unite to assist the ANC ahead of the upcoming Local Government Elections? .

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba reshuffled her cabinet today, September 2, 2026.

She appointed P**e Shai as MEC for CoGHSTA and Basikopo Makamu as MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development. Makoma Makhurupetje remains Chairpersonof the Limpopo Legislature, with Peter Hasani Ngobeni as Deputy Chairperson of Chairpersons.
