Okay, - this sham has gone on long enough. I am now challenging you to do something about this.

Do you think THIS is acceptable behavior for a senior representative of a party that has built a reputation on justice, fairness, human rights and equality, non-discrimination, taking a stand against homophobia and transphobia?

"The Democratic Alliance’s Helen Zille has applauded the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that transgender women do not fall under the definition of “woman” under that country’s Equality Act.

Zille also shockingly stated that the struggle for trans rights are a “contagion as dangerous as Covid.”

“They have protected the rights of women across the English-speaking world from a contagion as dangerous, socially, as Covid was, medically. We thank you from the Southern tip of Africa,” she wrote."

You previously IGNORED outcries of shock and outrage when this horrific, shameful TERF bigot wearing your colors made ignorant and hateful transphobic statements undermining the humanity of transgender South Africans.

You cannot keep on pretending you care a damn about human rights and civil rights or human dignity while turning a blind eye to transphobia in your leader-group.

Least of all while transgender people are facing increasing oppression and persecution abroad, especially in the USA, where they are being increasingly dehumanized and litigated into criminalization.

I urge you to take action against Zille for her hateful and hurtful, outrageous statements that not only undermine the human rights and dignity of transgender South Africans, but also incites hatred from those who might agree with her ignorant TERF views, and might encourage them to support similar actions here in South Africa.

The way things are going with geo-politics and people boycotting Amazon and the like, as a writer I'm starting to realize I'll probably see a massive drop in sales of my books from the platform.

Honestly, I'm fine with that - I hate the Zon and corporate fascism too. ;) After all, that's why I'm 100% indie.

ANNOUNCEMENT: I'm finally setting out on my academic journey!

Here it is, finally! 😁

A few days ago I mentioned I was waiting for some good news - news that was shifted to the right numerous times over the previous year (and several times THIS year already!) - and that I couldn't tell you about until - well, until TODAY, when I finally got the news!

To give you an idea, I've been sitting on this - and the events occurring behind the scenes since January/February last year!

After such a long wait, I'm elated to finally be able to share it with you! (Okay, I'll stop stalling and let it all out!)

I received the following email and letter this afternoon (please see the attachments).

To give you a VERY short explanation (you all know how wordsy I can be, LOL!) after MONTHS of reviews and evaluations by committees and various other bodies, I have received recognition for prior learning (RPL) and accepted to a PhD program at the University of the Western Cape - in the field of religious studies.

What this means is that over the next few years, I will be attending quarterly workshops to sharpen up my academic writing, learning from my mentors at the UWC, and at the end of this journey, I will emerge with a doctorate!

Not only will this open broader new horizons for me in future, it will also give added weight and credibility to my previous academic works.

How do I feel? Relieved. Elated. Happy. Bloody terrified! 😝

I'm not the sort of person to brag, and I'm sharing this with you because it's a BIG THING for me. This is the realization of a life's dream, and I'm immensely grateful to Prof Lee-Shae Scharnick-Udemans, the Desmond Tutu Centre for Religion and Social Justice, and the Faculty for Arts & the Humanities at the University of the Western Cape for their amazing support - and also to those of you who've supported me over the years (you know who you are)!
