Planning a year-end function is mostly admin. The venue, the entertainment, the decor, the catering, and a run sheet that holds all of it together.

So we put one together already. A cocktail evening with the entertainment, decor and catering planned as one thing instead of five separate suppliers.

You tell us the date and the numbers. We run the evening.

Awards evenings run late. Almost always.

The thing that gets forgotten is what the evening is actually for. It is not the room and it is not the meal. It is the thirty seconds somebody spends on a stage collecting something they worked a year for. Everything else on the run sheet exists to protect that.

So we split the entertainment rather than stacking it. Short pieces spread through the night instead of one long block that pushes the awards back to half past ten.

And we settle the dinner service early, because plated service for a thousand people, a buffet, and roaming canapes are three completely different evenings. Each one costs you a different amount of time, and only one of them suits your room.

Get that right and nobody is standing at the back at nine o'clock saying they never got fed.

Every event that runs smoothly has a woman somewhere in the middle of it.

On the crew and on the floor. In the planning weeks nobody sees. On the client side, sending the brief that starts the whole thing. Making decisions all day while the room assumes it was always going to work out.

Today we say thank you to them. To the women in our team, in our supplier crews, and in the offices that trust us with their events.

It has been a while.

The page went quiet. The workshop did not.

Events on the floor, screens in the air, crews on site. Swipe through for some of what kept us busy, from full technical production on the Hatfield Motor Group awards evening to a live donor count running on a custom Score Board app.

That is the trade with event work. The busier the floor gets, the quieter the feed gets. So we are fixing our half of it. Recaps, behind the scenes and build logs are on the way, and they land here first.
