TWO BY-STANDERS SHOT DEAD DURING A CIT ROBBERY IN DAWN PARK

By Mashamba Media
The Media Guru

Two by-standers were shot and killed during a cash in transit robbery that occured at Barry Marais road in Dawn Park on 01 September 2025.

It is reported that a cash vehicle was bumped from the back by a silver Mercedes-Benz, causing the truck to capsize on to a quantum taxi which had seven occupants. Five of the occupants sustained injuries and were given medical treatment while the other two escaped with no injuries. Approximately, eight suspects bombed the cash vehicle and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Gun shots were in the process fired between the suspects and the security company that was nearby and responded. Two bystanders were caught in the cross fire and have been declared dead.

The police urged the public not to approach scenes of CITs and also not to try to pick up money blown from the cash vehicles. The community should remain vigilant of their surroundings at all times and report any criminal activities on the SAPS Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111.

Police investigations are underway.
