Tackling Period Poverty and Inspiring a Community**

In the heart of Mamelodi West, where the cheers from football pitches often soundtrack the weekends, something more profound than a winning goal recently took centre stage. The Vlaka Masters League (VML), a community football league known for its fierce competition and local talent, has shown that its impact stretches far beyond the touchlines. Over two days, the league transformed from a sporting body into a powerful force for social good, addressing a critical need in its community.

**The Final Whistle on Period Poverty**

The initiative kicked off at Dr. Monare Primary School in D2 Section, Mamelodi West. The mission was clear and vital: to donate essential sanitary pads and roll-on deodorants to young learners. For many girls, the lack of access to sanitary products is a significant barrier to education, leading to missed school days and diminished confidence. The VML, understanding this challenge within its own community, decided to act.

"This wasn't just a donation; it was an investment in dignity and education," the league stated. The school's warm welcome underscored the importance of the gesture, creating a moment of shared hope and practical support.
