64 Voice Media with a tragic news update from Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.

A young woman identified as Akon Dut Akol, wife of Kiir Wol Deng, has reportedly died following an alleged assault and forced abortion.

According to a statement shared by family members, Akon was allegedly assaulted by her own brother and another individual, and was forced to terminate her pregnancy.

Family members say that after the incident, Akon became seriously ill and later passed away.

In the words of one family member who shared the news:
"Sad news to hear. Akon Dut Akol, wife of Kiir Wol Deng, was beaten by her own brother and a friend and forced to have an abortion. After the abortion, she became sick and passed away. May her soul rest in peace."

As of now, authorities in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State have not released an official statement regarding the incident.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS | South Sudan

Telecommunications Tariff Exchange Rate Adjustment Phase Two Begins Today

Digitel South Sudan, MTN South Sudan, and Zain South Sudan have announced that Phase Two of the Telecommunications Tariff Exchange Rate Adjustment takes effect from midnight on Sunday, 26 July 2026, following approval by the National Communication Authority (NCA).

According to the joint statement, the adjustment is intended to:

Safeguard the sustainability of telecommunications services.

Preserve national connectivity.

Address rising operational costs caused by inflation, higher energy prices, depreciation of the South Sudanese Pound (SSP), limited access to foreign currency, and continued investment in network infrastructure.

The telecom operators emphasized that this is not a tariff increase, but rather an exchange rate adjustment, stating that the underlying telecom tariffs remain unchanged. The NCA also directed operators to absorb a significant share of inflationary pressures to minimize the impact on consumers.

FAREWELL TO A SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE: AKEEN ANGOK KUEC 1984 - 2026

The Akuar Athokbeekdit Community has lost a pillar.
Akeen Angok Kuec passed away on Thursday, 23rd July 2026 at 11:00 PM in Mayen Abun at the age of 42 after a stroke.

But Akeen will not be remembered for how he died.
He will be remembered for how he lived — for others.

He built the Aweng Roundabout that we all use today.
He stood behind community projects that brought progress.
He gave, quietly and generously, because service was his nature.

To us at 64 Voice Media, and to all who knew him, Akeen was more than a name. He was dedication in human form.

We pray:
_May God receive his soul in eternal peace._
_May He give strength to the family, relatives, and the entire Akuar community._
