HER NAME WAS NOT A FEAR
She walked with the sunrise in her shoulders,
Carried stories in the palms of her hands
But some tried to dim her light with fists and words ,
to shrink a whole world into a locked room.
They called it power .
It was not .
It was silence trying to shout.
It was fear borrowing someone else's voice.
To the girl who flinched at footsteps,
to the mother who smiled to keep the peace,
to the sister who learned to make herself small
You were not a problem.
The problem was your hands that forgot how to be gentle ,
and mouths that forgot how to ask .
GBV steals time .
It steals breath .
It tells women to disappear in their own lives .
But look :
There is steel in her softness.
There are other women holding doors open,
hotlines that answer at 2am,
courts that are learning to listen,
sons being taught "no mean no "
before they learn to drive .
She is not broken.
She is breaking the cycle.
And one day the only thing that will be left behind
is the echo of what we refused to accept anymore.
