🗓 June 12 – A Day We Remember. A Day We Honour.
Today, we celebrate the power of the people, the struggle for justice, and the spirit of democracy.
🗳️ On June 12, 1993, Nigerians made history by voting in what is widely regarded as the freest and fairest election in our nation’s history — an election won by MKO Abiola.
But this victory was snatched by the military regime, sparking resistance, protests, and the ultimate sacrifice of Abiola, who died fighting for the mandate freely given to him by the people.
✊🏽 June 12 is more than a date — it’s a reminder that our democracy was not given, it was earned.
