Today, our hearts are overflowing with joy! ❤️🥹

After six long months of intensive chemotherapy, including the dreaded “Red Devil” chemo, radiation and a bone marrow transplant, Chris rang the bell this morning! 🎗️🔔

Chris, what an incredible milestone! You have faced so much and shown a strength that words can hardly describe. Today, that bell rang as a beautiful symbol of hope, courage and how far you have come. 💙🦸‍♂️

Although we celebrate this wonderful moment, we know that Chris’s journey is not over yet. Regular check-ups, medical appointments and continued monitoring lie ahead as he continues on his road to recovery.

GEORGE JOUBERT — A LITTLE SOLDIER, A TRUE MIRACLE! ❤️🦸‍♂️

Some children are born with a fighting spirit that shines brighter than words can describe. George Joubert is one of them. ❤️

Diagnosed with torticollis at just six weeks old, George has already faced challenges that many could never imagine. After years of therapy, surgery and perseverance, he faced another terrifying battle on 1 October when a freak accident on the family farm left him with severe head and brain injuries.

His parents, Adriaan and Myra, faced every parent's worst nightmare as they fought desperately to get their precious boy the help he needed. 🙏❤️

But George kept fighting!

Just six days after the accident, this brave young man was walking across the farm again, one step at a time. His jokes, humour and beautiful spark are returning as he continues his recovery.

George, you are a reminder that courage has no age, hope can survive the darkest moments, and a little soldier can have the heart of a giant! ❤️💪

Today, our hearts and prayers are especially with two of our precious Little Soldiers, 2-year-old Milandi Henricks and 4-year-old Hanko Myburgh. 🩵🎗️

Our little Hanko begins Phase 3 of his chemotherapy today and will undergo a lumbar puncture. Our brave little Milandi will also face chemotherapy and a lumbar puncture.

They are still so little. At an age when their biggest worries should be toys, laughter and bedtime stories, they are facing battles no child should ever have to fight. Yet, behind those tiny hands and little smiles are two incredibly brave hearts that continue to fight, one day at a time. 🥺❤️

Today, we ask our Radio33 Little Soldiers family to stand together in prayer. 🙏

Heavenly Father, please hold Milandi and Hanko close in Your loving arms today. Walk with them into their treatments, calm their little hearts, protect their precious bodies and give them strength when the journey feels hard.

Lord, please guide every doctor and nurse caring for them. Let their treatments bring healing, let their little bodies respond well, and surround them with Your peace, comfort and endless love.

We also pray for their mommies, daddies and families. Give them strength for the difficult moments, courage when fear creeps in, and hope when the days feel long. Remind them that they are never alone in this journey.

DAY 1 OF 7 — LET'S TALK ABOUT DOWN SYNDROME! 💛💙

What is Down syndrome, and why is awareness so important?

Down syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when a person has an extra copy of chromosome 21. Most people have 46 chromosomes in their cells, while people with Down syndrome typically have 47 because of this extra genetic material.

This extra chromosome influences how the body and brain develop. It can affect learning, physical development, speech, and certain aspects of health.

There are three main types of Down syndrome:

💙 Trisomy 21: The most common type, accounting for approximately 95% of cases. Every cell typically has an extra chromosome 21.

💛 Translocation Down syndrome: Extra chromosome 21 material is attached to another chromosome.

💙 Mosaic Down syndrome: Only some cells have an extra chromosome 21, while others have the usual number.

Every person with Down syndrome is different. Some may need significant support with everyday activities, while others live more independently. Their abilities, personalities, interests and support needs are unique.

💛 HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT FACTS:

✨ Down syndrome is a genetic condition, not an illness that someone can catch.

✨ It is not caused by something a parent did or failed to do during pregnancy.

✨ People with Down syndrome can learn, develop skills, form friendships, experience love and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

✨ Some people have associated health conditions, such as congenital heart defects, hearing or vision difficulties, thyroid problems, or sleep apnoea. These conditions do not affect everyone in the same way.

✨ Early intervention, appropriate healthcare, education and family support can help children reach their individual potential.

💙 WHY DOES AWARENESS MATTER?

Because understanding replaces fear. Education challenges stereotypes. Acceptance creates opportunities.

A person with Down syndrome is not defined by a chromosome. They are a whole person with their own identity, feelings, dreams, abilities and story.

A SPECIAL PRAYER FOR JOSHUA🙏💙

Dear Heavenly Father,

Tonight, we lift up our brave little warrior, Joshua, into Your loving hands. As he begins another week of chemotherapy from 12 October, we ask that You surround him with Your peace, strength and unfailing love. 💙

Lord, when the treatment is difficult, give Joshua courage. When the injections hurt and his little body feels tired, please comfort him and ease his pain. Fill his heart with happiness, hope and the knowledge that he is never alone. Let him feel Your presence beside him every step of the way.

We pray for his family, Father. Give them strength on the difficult days, peace when fear creeps in, and faith when the road ahead feels uncertain. Wrap Your loving arms around them and remind them that they do not have to carry this journey alone.

We pray for Joshua's doctors and medical team. Grant them wisdom, knowledge and compassion as they care for him. Please protect Joshua's body throughout his treatment, strengthen him from within, and give him the resilience he needs for each new day.

Lord, let there be moments of laughter in the middle of the hard days, smiles when tears threaten to fall, and hope even when the journey feels long. May Joshua always know how deeply he is loved, not only by his family, but by everyone standing beside him in prayer.

A HUGE MILESTONE FOR CHRIS! HE’S BACK AT SCHOOL! 📚💙

After six long months away from the classroom, Chris, a learner at Wesvalia High School in Klerksdorp, returned to school on Tuesday! 🎉❤️

Following his courageous battle with leukaemia, months of treatment and a bone marrow transplant, this is a moment worth celebrating! 🙏💙 One step at a time, Chris is beginning a new chapter, and we couldn’t be happier for him!

From all of us at Radio33 Little Soldiers, we wish Chris strength, courage and many beautiful moments ahead. May the Lord guide him, protect him and bless him as he continues this journey. 💙✨

REST IN PEACE, SWEET JADE 🕊️

Three-year-old Jade has sadly passed away after months of bravely battling rhabdomyosarcoma. Her mom, Amber, shared the heartbreaking words: “Jade is at peace now.” 💔

Despite everything she endured, Jade gave her family beautiful moments to treasure. She found her voice again, laughed, walked, and enjoyed the little things she loved, including chocolate peanut butter. ❤️

Though her time on earth was far too short, the joy and love she brought will never be forgotten.

Please keep Amber and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS — DAY 7 💗🎀

🌸 A MESSAGE OF HOPE 🌸

This week we've talked about breast cancer.

We've talked about the warning signs.

We've talked about risk factors.

We've talked about knowing your body.

We've talked about screening.

We've talked about treatment.

But today, we want to talk about something just as important:

❤️ HOPE.

To the woman who has just heard the words:

"You have breast cancer."

You are not just a diagnosis.

To the woman waiting for test results:

Take one day at a time.

To the woman going through chemotherapy:

You are stronger than you may feel today.

To the woman who has lost her hair:

Your beauty was never defined by your hair.

To the woman who has had a mastectomy:

Your worth, femininity and strength are not defined by your breasts.

To the woman who is living with cancer:

You are still YOU.

To the survivor:

Your story may give someone else hope.

And to the family standing beside a loved one:

Your support matters more than you may ever realise.

🎀 THIS IS WHY WE TALK ABOUT BREAST CANCER.

Not to frighten people.

Not to create panic.

But to create awareness.

Because knowing the signs, knowing your risk, seeking medical advice when something changes and taking part in appropriate screening can help with early detection.

So please:

💗 Know your body.
💗 Know your family history.
💗 Don't ignore changes.
💗 Keep up with appropriate screening.
💗 Encourage the women you love to do the same.
💗 Support those who are fighting.

DAY 7 — AWARENESS CREATES HOPE 💜

🌟 SEVEN DAYS OF AWARENESS. ONE COMMUNITY. A FUTURE WORTH FIGHTING FOR. 🌟

Seven days of talking about Rett syndrome.

Seven days of learning.

Seven days of raising awareness.

Seven days of reminding the world that behind every diagnosis is a person who deserves to be seen, heard, understood and included.

But our awareness journey doesn't end here. 💜

💜 WHAT DOES HOPE LOOK LIKE FOR THE RETT COMMUNITY?

Hope looks like researchers working to understand Rett syndrome better.

Hope looks like clinical trials exploring new treatments.

Hope looks like improved communication support, better symptom management and care that recognises each person's individual needs.

Hope looks like families gaining access to information, resources and support.

And hope looks like a future where scientists may one day find a way to treat the underlying cause of Rett syndrome and develop a cure.

There is currently no cure for Rett syndrome, but research is ongoing and progress continues. The International Rett Syndrome Foundation supports research, clinical trials and the development of new treatments. 💜

Researchers are investigating different approaches, including gene therapy, while other studies explore ways to improve symptoms and quality of life. These approaches are still being investigated, and their safety and effectiveness must be established through research.
