The sun beat down on the dusty streets of Enbekweni, a small village where time swifted slow. Qhamukile sat on the worn stoep of her family's compound, eyes glued on her phone, fingers flying across the screen. The wind rustled the roof above. Qhamu was lost in the endless scroll and typing, oblivious to the beauty around her - the way the sunlight danced through the acacia and baobab trees, the sound of goats bleating in the distance. Her mom called out from inside.

"Qhamukile, ng'cela uzosiza ngomsebenzi endlini !", but she just waved a hand, too caught up in her digital world. Qhamukile's phone buzzed in her hand and her body responded before her brain could - a flutter in her chest, a quickening of her pulse. Mr Xulu's name flashed on the screen, and she felt a rush of heat to her cheeks. "Hey beautiful", the message read. "Meet me at the abandoned railway station at midnight. I need to see you urgently". The words sent a shiver down her spine. The message was like a whisper in the dark - urgent, mysterious and laced with danger.
