TRAVELLERS WELCOME AT MASORINI

Located just outside Phalaborwa Town inside the Kruger National Park in Limpopo, the site is a fascinating archaeological site that offers a window into the iron-smelting skills of the early inhabitants of the region.

Once home to the BaPhalaborwa people during the 19th century, Masorini preserves the remains of stone huts, furnaces, and iron-smelting workshops that reveal their advanced knowledge of metalworking and trade.

The site shows how local communities turned iron ore into tools, weapons, and trade goods—highlighting Limpopo’s long history of innovation and industry. Today, visitors can explore the restored village, see ancient furnaces, and even learn how iron was smelted using traditional methods. Set against the backdrop of Kruger National Park, Masorini is not only a cultural treasure but also a reminder of the ingenuity and resilience of Limpopo’s people.
