MOJADIGO TRIAL CONTINUES
Mochudi Magistrate Court was treated to an unusual revelation on Tuesday, when prosecution witnesses revealed that Apostle Goitsekgosi Mojadigo Divine Anointing Church International allegedly solicited sexual encounters with some female members of his congregation claiming it was form of cleansing.
The revelation came to light on Tuesday during the Pastor’s trial before Magistrate Queen Moanga, where one of the victims’ boyfriend and the Investigating Officer (IO) stood in the witness box.
The boyfriend testimony observing that at one points his girlfriend under some form of strain, which she initially claimed to be a result of unemployment.
She later asked him whether it was possible for someone to be cleansed through sexual in*******se.
He recounted that her question evolved into an inquiry about whether a pastor could perform such a “sexual cleansing.”
Responding with scepticism, he told her that only some young pastors mislead people into believing such practices.
It was at this point that she reportedly broke down and confided about her encounter with Mojadigo, seeking prayer for a job application with the BDF.
According to the boyfriend, Mojadigo, who claimed to be busy at the time, later reached out to the victim, leading to a meeting in Morwa, where the alleged sexual cleansing took place.
The boyfriend then obtained the accused’s number, called him and his response was that despite being a pastor, he was also human and capable of having sexual feelings.
The boyfriend further stated that, according to the victim, the sexual encounter was consensual, however, she was manipulated into agreeing to the act.
The accused had promised to give her P800, a promise he failed to fulfil. According to the witness, his girlfriend was deceived by Mojadigo, to believe that her problems would be transferred to him during the sexual act.
Another witness, Detective Constable Otshepheng Lesole, said her encounter with the 21-year-old victim was when she reported a sexual assault by a Facebook Pastor, whom she had contacted regarding a job application.
Cst. Lesole relayed how the victim met Mojadigo in Gaborone, after which they drove to Morwa, where the alleged sexual healing took place.
Later, the accused ordered the victim to shower, and they subsequently returned to Gaborone.
Cst. Lesole said on their return to Gaborone, they stopped at an ATM, where the accused is said to have obtained and offered the victim a P200 note, which she refused.
Ms Lesole further stated that during the journey, the victim asked the accused for a Bible scripture about sexual healing, at their point her doubts worsened and prompted her to report the incident to the police.
During cross-examination by the defence attorney, Mr Olehile Mantswe, the IO maintained that even though the sexual cleansing was consensual, it was obtained under false pretences.
Mr Manchwe also noted that the prosecution failed to produce a report detailing the accused person’s communication with the victim form the forensic unit, an omission he claimed rendered the investigation incomplete.
The trial continues.
