Bolt Driver Murder Case Postponed to 23 February; Suspects Remain in Custody.
The three suspects in the tragic murder of a 22-year-old Nigerian Bolt driver — Dikeledi Tears Phela, Gositsiane Machidi, and McClaren Mushwana — appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court this morning, Monday. The case has been postponed to 23 February 2026 to allow investigators more time to gather evidence and ensure a thorough review.
The suspects will remain in custody while the investigation continues: the male suspects are being held at SAPS Pretoria North Police Station, and Phela, the female suspect, is being held at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre.
They face serious charges of murder and carjacking in connection with the fatal attack, which has shocked the community and raised concerns about the safety of e-hailing drivers.
This case is a stark reminder of the risks faced by drivers and the importance of justice and community safety.
