has been formed with the objective of awakening South African voters to the power and possibility of the vote they hold in their hands. This Political Action Group (PAG) is focused on educating South African voters about the election process, the various political parties competing for their vote, the "promises" they make, and their ability to deliver against those promises. Our key audience is th
e disaffected millennial and Gen Z generations who feel that it’s not worth the time and effort to vote. We want them to realise that if they wish to affect change in this country their vote is the best possible means to do so. Violent protests, political violence, and aggression are not long-term sustainable options if we wish to build a free, fair, and safe South Africa. After 27 years of freedom, we also want to appeal to that generation of voters who feel disillusioned by the promises made by politicians that remain unfulfilled. Awake Mzansi! is about empowering voters with factual knowledge, not t-shirts and boerewors rolls, so that they can make an informed decision when voting at the polls. To this end one of our primary objectives is to fact check election statements, determine if a political party can really deliver against its manifesto, and communicate this to the voting public through a Facebook community page & Twitter with substance and meaning. If we can get the youth to get out and vote, and more importantly, think about who they are voting for then we will have also fulfilled a major objective. We are not about: - Political allegiance - Tit-for-tat politics - Lies and deception - Campaigning today for no delivery tomorrow - Racism We are about: - The truth - A prospering free and fair South Africa for all - Finding a solution - Providing hope and that your vote can make a difference - Giving people the power of information to make an informed decision - Equality Community Rules: Please note that we need to have a few rules in order for this community to thrive and so that people enjoy engaging with us.
