Discovery or recovery đź’›

When considering reaching out to me, it is crucial to understand the emotional state you are in: either Discovery or Recovery. In the Discovery state, a client or parent, you are aware of your past experiences and you are open to embracing a new version of yourself. However, in the Recovery state, you may be caught up in blame and anger, requiring support from a psychologist. For those in Recovery, parent or life coaching may be overwhelming, as you perceive your emotions as integral to your identity and are not yet prepared to let go of them.

Before enrolling in a coaching program, it is essential for individuals to examine their beliefs about personal growth. My role is to assist you in constantly looking forward and progressing. If you are not ready to move forward, engaging in coaching may only amplify your frustration. Rest assured, I will assess suitability for the programme and inform you during the first session if it may not be the right time for you yet, and we’ll take a pause. I am able to refer you to professional psychologists when the need arises, you are not alone 🌿

Have any questions, feel free to pop in the comment or reach out via alternate methods you feel comfortable with. Take care of you and yours, Cherona D

⏱️Am I spending enough time with my kids? This is one of the questions that often comes my way. Instead of focusing on ENOUGH, lets focus on the time spent, and look at HOW.

1. Disconnect: Disconnect from technology and minimize distractions such as phones, TV, and social media. This can help you be fully present and engaged with your kids.

2. Listen: Listen actively and attentively to your kids. Show a genuine interest in what they have to say and ask open-ended questions to encourage conversation.

3. Play: Engage in play with your kids, whether it's board games, outdoor activities, or creative projects. This can help you bond with your kids and create lasting memories.

4. Be Patient: Be patient and give your kids your full attention, even during challenging moments. This can help your kids feel heard and validated, and it can strengthen your relationship over time.

5. Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness and stay in the moment. Focus on the present and appreciate the time you have with your kids. This can help you reduce stress and anxiety and increase your enjoyment of quality time.

Remember, being present and engaged during quality time with your kids is important for building strong relationships and creating lasting memories. With these practical tips, you can make the most of your time with your kids and cherish the moments you have together.

Experts believe we think somewhere between 60,000 and 80,000 thoughts per day. That averages out to 2,500 to 3,300 per hour. THAT IS REMARKABLE!

There is a little hiccup here though . . . are all our thoughts TRUE? Now that is the clincher. We will never be able to adjust every negative thought that approaches our awareness, but we can certainly try to free our minds from toxic thinking…one thought at a time.

I would like YOU to take a minute to IDENTIFY your toxic thoughts. These are thoughts that you find yourself dwelling on many times in an hour and a day. Start by noting them down, I am not using the word journaling, because that will scare most of you to the mountains and back. So simply note them down for now. Be true to yourself and show up in this process, don't stop after a day. Acknowledging this pattern is vital. You've got this!

PS: Toxic thought patterns is what brings most clients knocking on my door, please know you are not alone! As they say, the struggle is real, but you are not an island.

We know that a renovation happens when someone wants to change the appearance of their home or business. Maybe it’s because something is broken or damaged or perhaps it just needs to be updated. A mind renovation is similar.

What kind of renovation does your mind need?

Maybe you’re still focused on the broken and damaged thoughts you’ve been thinking for years. It could be that you’ve been playing an outdated recording in your mind that someone said to you during your childhood. Do you find yourself constantly complaining? Is it easier for you to fixate on the things that could go wrong in your life? Are you jealous and envious of others and how their lives seem better than yours? Do you feel overwhelmed and defeated by how you view yourself?

Whether we usually have a positive outlook on life or we struggle every day with what our minds obsess over, we could all use some guidance when it comes to our thoughts. Often, we refer to unwanted thoughts as negative or bad, but what they really are is toxic.

Think about your most common thoughts. How do they make you feel?
In what area of your thought life do you need a renovation?

Be sure to follow and save as we start diving into practical ways to restore and renovate the areas of our lives and mindset that are not serving us.

🙄I see the worry and hear the anxiety....

I have young clients very concerned about their planned future and study set study directions as AI becomes an every day reality. How can you as parent help your child?

Here are a few practical tips you can suggest to help your child work with AI:

1. Develop technical skills: Encourage your child to learn technical skills that are in high demand, such as programming, data analysis, or cybersecurity. With AI playing a larger role in the workplace, these skills will be increasingly valuable.

2. Focus on creativity: AI may be able to automate routine tasks, but it can't replace human creativity. Encourage your child to focus on developing skills that require creativity, such as art, design, or writing.

3. Build a growth mindset: Help your child develop a growth mindset, where they see challenges and failures as opportunities to learn and grow. This mindset can help them adapt to changes in the job market and approach new opportunities with confidence.

4. Seek out mentors: Encourage your child to connect with individuals who are successfully navigating the changing job market. Mentors can provide guidance and support, and help your child stay motivated and focused on their goals.

5. Stay up-to-date: Encourage your child to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in their field. This can help them identify new opportunities and stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing job market.

Remember, AI is a tool that can help individuals work more efficiently and effectively. By developing technical skills, focusing on creativity, building a growth mindset, seeking out mentors, and staying up-to-date, your child can work with AI and build a successful career in the age of automation.

I always smile when someone responds to my personalised WhatsApp stickers. The reason I did this years ago was to be able to quickly respond to a client, make it feel special for them, but save me time in the process. So appointment reminders, banking details, email address and website details were an easy sticker click instead of typing the information over and over again.

This is how I did it, let me know if you are going to give it a try!!

Cue the Sunday Blues
Many are familiar with the range of emotions and feelings that come with the Sunday Blues: irritability, unease, feeling anxious, restless, and feelings of dread for the impending Monday. What you’re actually feeling is anticipatory anxiety, which is described as feelings of fear or worry around things that have not happened yet.

Sundays are always going to come, but I've got some tips to help.

The first step of tackling the Sunday Blues is to think about what’s making you feel anxious – is it your to-do list for work? A big test coming up? A hard conversation with your boss? Try to narrow down what exactly about Monday or the coming week is making you feel this way.

Putting a name to what’s causing your blues can help you manage your feelings. If you want to take this a step further, write down what’s making you anxious and take some time to brainstorm solutions so when you do have to tackle those tasks, you’ll have a plan ready.

It’ll make you feel like you’re ahead of the problem rather than behind it, and that change in perspective will improve your mood.

Another way to combat the Sunday Scaries is to reframe your Sundays. Make Sundays your day. Treat yourself to your favorite meal, have a movie marathon, spend some time outdoors, paint, or dance in your living room all day. You’ll soon start to look forward to Sundays as a day totally to yourself.

If you still find your brain working in overdrive, try getting outdoors. Even taking a walk around the neighborhood will take your mind off of the Sunday Blues, and getting some fresh air.

Are you going to give these a try?
