A man forever changed by 54 long days behind the walls of Tlhabane prison.
His story is not just dates on a calendar; it is pain stretched across time. On 7 July, a fine was paid for his release. Yet, only on 7 August did he learn the truth — a month stolen from his life, a month of waiting, hoping, and breaking in silence.
In those suffocating days, he witnessed sorrow that words can hardly carry. He saw the final moments of the late Keotsepile, a man whose body was left to suffer indignity, bitten by ticks until his last breath. That image, raw and unbearable, lingers in Hypa’s memory as a reminder of the cruelty hidden behind prison gates.
His journey is one of endurance, of survival in a place where humanity is often forgotten. To meet Hypa today is to meet a living testimony of pain, resilience, and a cry for justice that should never be ignored.
