"When my husband discovered that I was seeing another man, he didn’t shout, argue, or raise a hand. He just went completely quiet. I thought the silence meant forgiveness, but I didn’t know he was planning something deeper.
The first thing he did was to find out where my boyfriend worked. Somehow, he got hold of the office line and sent messages with pictures and screenshots of our chats as “proof.” Within a few days, my boyfriend lost his job. They told him it was due to “unprofessional conduct” and “inappropriate distractions.” He was so shocked; he had no idea how it all happened.
That was only the beginning. My husband then reported my boyfriend’s mother’s shop to the Baphalaborwa Municipal authorities. He claimed the place was violating safety and hygiene regulations. They visited the shop and found one expired product, and that was enough for him to write multiple petitions. He pointed out that the shop had no waste bin, no fire extinguisher, and blocked part of the walkway. Within a week, officials shut the shop down completely. My boyfriend’s mother cried like a baby.
But my husband still wasn’t done.
He somehow found the wife of my boyfriend’s elder brother on social media and sent her screenshots of private conversations between me and my boyfriend. He said he just wanted her to “know the kind of family she married into.” That one message scattered their home. Now everyone in his family is fighting and blaming each other.
My boyfriend has been depressed ever since. His family members have turned against him. He says I’ve ruined his entire life. But honestly, I’m the one living in fear.
My husband still acts calm, like nothing happened. He goes to work, comes home, eats quietly, and even leads prayers at night. But I see that look in his eyes — cold and frightening. I can’t even trust eating his food anymore.
