You know how you guys joked about this year being the year for concerts? Well... I guess we're all going to The July!

A few weeks after hosting an exclusive relaunch party, Aline Media Group has announced the debut of The Ascots, a bold, world-class fusion of music, hospitality, and elevated culinary experience.

For the first time in Durban July history, the event will host three international headliners on one stage: Bryson Tiller, Masego, and Grammy Award-winner DJ Mustard.

Most of Disney South Africa's guests treated Tuesday's advanced screening of TDWP2 as an invitation to go all-out with stylish, elevated looks.

They styled a range of chic ensembles while posing dramatically for all the cameras.

Influencers and celebs leaned into "main character" fashion moments, tying directly into the film's themes of fashion drama, ambition, and iconic style. Very much: "high fashion, cinema, and luxury."

A special advance screening of took place on Tuesday evening at Eastgate Mall's Ster Kinekor theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Organised as a VIP and media promotional event with partners including Samsung, The FIX, Vodacom and Mercedes-Benz, the gathering drew South African celebrities and influencers such as Bonang Matheba, Pamela Mtanga, Zozi Tunzi, and others.

Brand activations and decor established a glamorous atmosphere aligned with the movie’s fashion-centric themes. Guests walked a red carpet before the screening, generating local buzz through celebrity photos and social media coverage, with no major incidents reported.

The event’s official dress code, “Runway Ready,” served as a clever play on Runway magazine—the fictional high-fashion publication at the heart of both the original film and its sequel, where characters like Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly work.

Most participants embraced it enthusiastically, arriving in chic, elevated ensembles that mirrored the film’s world of ambition, style, and glamour.

While many praised those who arrived dressed in the full spirit of the theme, and fully committed to the high-fashion looks, light commentary noted the attempts by those who aren't as sartorially savvy as others.

Overall, the event was viewed as a successful, on-brand promotion that effectively built excitement for the sequel’s release by immersing attendees in its glossy, cutthroat universe, and it shows in early ticket sales by South African audiences.

History-making beauty queen, actor Cynthia Shange, the first black woman to represent South Africa at Miss World, in 1972, has died at the age of 76.

Shange wrote her name in the history books when she entered the Miss South Africa competition for black contestants.

She became the first black woman to win a Miss South Africa title after being crowned Miss Black South Africa in 1972 and went on to represent the country globally.

All this before Miss South Africa became inclusive in 1992.

Her daughter, Nonhle Thema, confirmed the news in a statement shared on her Instagram and asked everyone to keep her family in their prayers.
