A special advance screening of took place on Tuesday evening at Eastgate Mall's Ster Kinekor theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Organised as a VIP and media promotional event with partners including Samsung, The FIX, Vodacom and Mercedes-Benz, the gathering drew South African celebrities and influencers such as Bonang Matheba, Pamela Mtanga, Zozi Tunzi, and others.
Brand activations and decor established a glamorous atmosphere aligned with the movie’s fashion-centric themes. Guests walked a red carpet before the screening, generating local buzz through celebrity photos and social media coverage, with no major incidents reported.
The event’s official dress code, “Runway Ready,” served as a clever play on Runway magazine—the fictional high-fashion publication at the heart of both the original film and its sequel, where characters like Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly work.
Most participants embraced it enthusiastically, arriving in chic, elevated ensembles that mirrored the film’s world of ambition, style, and glamour.
While many praised those who arrived dressed in the full spirit of the theme, and fully committed to the high-fashion looks, light commentary noted the attempts by those who aren't as sartorially savvy as others.
Overall, the event was viewed as a successful, on-brand promotion that effectively built excitement for the sequel’s release by immersing attendees in its glossy, cutthroat universe, and it shows in early ticket sales by South African audiences.
