Sasolburg SAPS and Stakeholders targeting learners through Sports and Sanitary Pads Drive programme
Sasolburg in partnership with various stakeholders and the NG Noord Community Learning Centre, successfully conducted a Sports Against Crime and Sanitary Pads Drive programme at NG Noord Community Learning Centre, Sasolburg, on Wednesday 10th June 2026.
The programme is aimed at educating learners on , campus safety, and social challenges affecting young people. Learners were educated on the role and responsibilities of SAPS and other stakeholders within the learning environment. Emphasis was placed on campus safety, through the promotion of a approach towards weapons, drugs, alcohol, and violence within educational facilities.
Learners were also encouraged to participate in mentoring programs and Campus Crime Watch initiatives.
Awareness presentations were conducted on human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual offences, maintenance matters, substance abuse, and appropriate behavioral conduct. Learners were further educated on the dangers of becoming victims of sexual offences, human trafficking, and gangsterism.
The programme also incorporated sports and indigenous games activities, including netball, to promote skills development, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, and positive community engagement. Professional assistance and mentorship opportunities were made available to learners throughout the event.
The programme was supported by representatives from SAPS, the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) /SCPU, Community Policing Forum (CPF), National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Thembelihle Crime Prevention, the Department of Health, the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, community patrollers, and SAPS administrative personnel.
A total of 87 learners were reached through the awareness campaign, and 170 pamphlets were distributed.
