CLOSING DATE EXTENSION FOR TERTIARY REGISTRATION FEE APPLICATIONS

In an effort to assist the youth to further their education and benefit from the Umdoni municipality’s registration fee support programme, the municipality is pleased to announce the extension of the tertiary registration fee applications by 9 business days.

‼️THE NEW CLOSING DATE IS 17 January 2025‼️

Applicants are reminded to ensure submission of applications are done before or on the closing date with all required documentation for consideration.

Application forms are obtainable from the Umdoni Youth Office based in the Scottburgh Main Office, Municipal Libraries, and on the Umdoni Updates document library: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PSU2h6IU9X6nhN1n1rB7bXi4lsn5SUiy/view?usp=drive_link

‼️REMINDER OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:‼️

1. Certified copy of South African ID
2. Most recent progress report for Grade 12
3. Letter of Acceptance or Proof of Admission from registered tertiary institution
4. Proof of Residence (Obtainable from Ward Councillor and Umdoni Main Office)
5. Proof of Income (Parent/Guardian) please note that proof of grant payment is permissible.

NB: Applicants who have not been contacted by the municipality within 30 days from the extended closing date should consider their applications unsuccessful.

Key Formulas:

1. Equation of motion: s = ut + (1/2)at² 🤔
2. Velocity: v = u + at 🔄
3. Acceleration due to gravity: g = 9.8 m/s² ⬇️

Ball A: t = 2 + 2(12/9.8) = 4.44 s

3.1.2) Calculate Z (height of building)

Ball A: h = ut + (1/2)at²
h = 12(1.22) + (1/2)(-9.8)(1.22)² = 20 m
Z = 20 m

3.1.3) Calculate Y (distance Ball B travels)

Y = Z = 20 m

2.1) Static Friction
Imagine pushing or pulling a heavy door. At first, it doesn't move. That's static friction! It's the force opposing motion when an object is stationary.

Example: Pushing a stuck door
You push gently, but it doesn't budge. The force of static friction equals your push. When you push harder, the door starts moving, overcoming static friction.

Remember that nerve-wracking feeling when the exam paper was put in front of you? Your heart racing, palms sweating, and your mind going blank! 😅

Let's relive the moment and tackle Question 1.1 together.

Question 1.1:

Several forces are acting on a moving object. Which one of the following statements is correct when the forces are in equilibrium?

A) The velocity of the object is increasing.
B) The object is moving at a constant velocity.
C) The kinetic energy of the object is decreasing.
D) The object has a non-zero acceleration.

Step 1: Read Carefully 📖
Understand the question: Forces in equilibrium.

Step 2: Recall Physics Basics💡
Forces in equilibrium = net force = 0, Newton's 1st Law (Law of Inertia).

Now, let's analyze each option:

A) Incorrect! Increasing velocity implies acceleration, which requires a net force.

B) Correct! Forces in equilibrium mean no net force acts on the object, so its velocity remains constant. Imagine cruising at 60 km/h on a straight road - forces are balanced, velocity stays constant! 🚗
