First Batch of Author Refunds Completed: Our Commitment in Action.

To our valued authors, supporters, and the broader literary community:

Today marks another step forward in our journey toward accountability, healing, and restoration. I am humbled to announce that Leswika Publishers has successfully refunded two of our authors — one receiving a full 100% refund and the other receiving 25%. Additionally, two more authors have had their copies dispatched via PAXI courier service today.

We are walking this road with intention, prioritizing refunds to authors who made their payments as early as last year, and continuing forward in that sequence. We are fully committed to refunding every single affected author, this is not a promise made lightly, but one rooted in integrity. It may take time, but we will make it happen.

We acknowledge once again, the distress and disappointment many of you have experienced. From the bottom of our hearts, we reiterate our deepest apologies. As we stated in our earlier communication, we regret what happened, and we carry the weight of that with sincerity. This is not just a financial issue, it is about restoring trust, dignity, and our shared belief in the power of African literature.

In light of the financial strain, we are making a humble and open call for donations to assist us in fulfilling all remaining refunds. If you or anyone in the literary community would like to lend a hand — even with a single cent, your generosity will go directly towards rebuilding what we all care about: the dignity of African storytelling and publishing.

Official Statement from Leswika Publishers Regarding The Allegations: Our Apology and Path Forward.

To our valued authors and the broader literary community,

We, at Leswika Publishers, wish to express our deepest and most heartfelt apologies to every author who has been affected by the recent financial crisis we are currently facing. We acknowledge the pain, disappointment, and frustration caused by our failure to fulfil commitments — especially after receiving funds from authors who trusted us with their creative work, time, and expectations.

This is not the standard we set for ourselves, nor is it the legacy we ever intended to create. We are not only devastated by the events that have transpired, but we are also humbled by the voices of those who have spoken up — rightfully demanding accountability.

The truth is, we have undergone a severe financial breakdown that overwhelmed our operations. While this is not an excuse, it is the reality we are striving to recover from — with transparency, empathy, and genuine responsibility.

In light of this, we are taking the following steps:

Public Engagement Platform
We are arranging a public meeting (Facebook Live, Monday 23:30pm 05/05/2025) to engage directly with all affected authors. This platform will allow for open dialogue, individual case discussion, and collective planning on how to move forward — including refund timelines and any alternative resolutions.

Free Publishing Option (Without Our Branding)
As a goodwill gesture, we offer affected authors the option of free publication services without the Leswika Publishers logo or name. This gives authors the chance to bring their work to life, even if under a neutral or independent banner.

Transparent Refund Process
We will implement a structured repayment plan for those who prefer a refund, prioritizing fairness and clear communication. Details will be shared directly with affected parties after verification.

To those whose trust we have broken — we are truly sorry. We ask for grace, not to avoid responsibility, but so we may have a chance to make things right. Our team is committed to rebuilding what has been lost — not just financially, but emotionally and ethically.
