The music industry IS NOT TALENT BASED ANYMORE!!! What I'm saying is you could have most Fire track in the world & unless it is marketed and promoted properly it will never go anywhere! Record labels don't discover talent anymore!

Protect your Rights: Perform at Licensed Venues

Performing in licensed venues ensures that the music creators receive fair compensation for their work, a process facilitated by SAMRO. SAMRO diligently collects license fees from venues and distributes them as royalties to its members. SAMRO license fees are distributed to members based on the music playlists received from these licensed venues.

How does SAMRO collect fees from licensed venues?

SAMRO enters into licensing agreements with venues such as concert halls, clubs, and event spaces. These venues pay SAMRO license fees for the right to perform copyrighted music publicly. SAMRO then distributes these license fees as royalties to its members.

What happens when one performs in an unlicensed venue?

Performing in an unlicensed venue can lead to missed opportunities for compensation of royalties. SAMRO may not have a licensing agreement with unlicensed venues, meaning the organisation cannot collect fees from them.

As a result, music creators may not receive royalties for the public performance of their musical works.

SAMRO calls unlicensed venues to get their SAMRO Music License today and support the South African music industry.

Artists, understand that there are A TON of other artists out here creating opportunities for themselves and the artists who invest the most into themselves get the most help. “Investing in yourself” doesn’t only mean you’re paying for things to get done, but it also means building the right relationships, developing additional skills to further your success, learning the business and staying consistent.

On the flip side, the artists, who constantly complain about why things aren’t going their way, are the artists that everyone wants to avoid.

Building Your Brand

As a musician, your brand is what sets you apart from others in the industry. It's the unique image, sound, and personality that you project to your audience. Your brand is what makes you recognizable and memorable, and it's what will keep fans coming back for more. But, building a strong brand takes time and effort. It requires a clear understanding of who you are as an artist, what your music is about, and what values you want to convey to your audience.

The first step in building your brand is to define your unique value proposition (UVP). What makes your music unique? What sets you apart from other musicians in your genre? Your UVP is the foundation of your brand, and it will guide all of your marketing and promotional efforts. Once you have a clear understanding of your UVP, you can start building your visual brand, including your logo, website, and social media presence. Your visual brand should be consistent across all platforms and should reflect your UVP.

Consistency is key when it comes to building a strong brand. You want your audience to recognize you and your music instantly, and you want to build trust with your fans. By consistently delivering high-quality music and engaging with your audience, you can build a loyal following and establish yourself as a reputable musician. Remember, your brand is a representation of you and your music, so make sure it's authentic and true to who you are as an artist.
