Happy Festively Holidays!

It’s a blessing that we have been graced to have made it to one year filled with amazing adventures, achievements, challenges, and heading to the final episode as new beginnings will begin again. This is Obscure Expressant and we welcome you on our 7th instalment.

We are very pleased to have a second visit from Nathilocks, who’s based in Mbombela, Mpumalanga (SA). His a highly known Disc Jockey with the passion that has been so deep as the style of Deep House in his collections. With a career spanning over two decades, Nathilocks has been captivating audiences with his unique sound since 2002. And he will be taking us through the Residential Tape Hour.

And on the second hour (of the Essential Tape Hour) we have - Thee ILLUMINATOR - one of the talented DJ based in the Vaal (Gauteng), who is also a Music Producer and a Podcaster. He is highly known with his avant-garde approach to his art work and his Podcast titled, “INTERSTELLAR COMMUNICATION,” which focuses on everything cosmic and underground. With his diverse work as a Producer is influenced by great artists such as, Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane, Floating Points, Atjazz, Flying Lotus ,J Dilla, 2000Black, IG Culture and Osunlade just to mention a few.

And we close up the year of 2024 with the Radioshow Tape hosted by yours truly, Simon Tshabalala. On this show he has featured artists like, Soulfreakah, Yaggilocco, Deep Essential and many more.

Greetings! And we hope that you have been great, and that your November is going well thus far… Well, it will get much greater as we present the 6th instalment of Obscure Expressant. As we draw closer to the festive season, we thought it would be best to get some chilling and relaxing instalment episode for you and yours. Let us get started with our first guest, shall we..?

Meet Dogz Playing, a dynamic musician that blends sounds with heart and art; fusing with Funk, Neo-Soul, Nu-Jazz, and Hip-Hop to create an infectious, groove-driven sound. With a shared passion for pushing boundaries, Dogz Playing delivers high-energy performances that leave audiences craving more. His not only the best in selections for sets and tapes but also an amazing producer for more than a decade in creating beats and music for various of world known artists. To get more of the feel, that describes who Dogz Playing is, we would like to give you the residential tapestry and a platform that has more of his music, “beatstars.com.”

And as chilled as we have been from the first hour, chillism has never been more therapeutic and sound than our 2nd guest taking us through the essentials parts of this installation.

Meet, nuhohm…, known best through his musical project that have been creating waves everywhere. Real name, Tshegofatso Mathebathe, is a musician and DJ born and raised in Soweto (township of Jo’burg). Tshegofatso's wide spread influence can be heard by the versatility of his music, even though Tshegofatso describes the nuhohm project as genre fluid endeavour, the influnces of other genres is not hard to pick, genres like Kwaito, Hip-Hop, House, Bruk, Jazz and Eloctric Muisc are very prominent. Same applies to his DJ Set(s), we just couldn’t wait to have him on board, as he gives you the essential tapestry. Do check out his music on “nuhohm.bandcamp.com.”
