We are happy that Library Services can expand to include study and SmartCape access from 5 October 2020 in line with COVID - 19 regulations and safety restrictions, the services differ from library to library. Please check the list below for your favourite library.

The Drop and Collect service, as well as Study and SmartCape Access will be available at the following libraries:

Adriaanse, Avondale, Belhar, Bellville, Bellville South, Bishop Lavis, Bothasig, Brackenfell, Brown's Farm, Central, Claremont, Crosswords, Delft, Delft South, Dunoon, Durbanville, Eersteriver, Eikendal, Diesels River, Fisantekraal, Fish Hoek, Grassy Park, Gugulethu, Hangberg, Harare, Huguenot Square, Kensington, Koeberg, Kraaifontein, Kuyasa, Leonsdale, Lwandle, (Hector Pietersen), Macassar, Mam-re, Manenberg, Masiphumelele, Melton Rose, Mfuleni, Milnerton, Moses Mabhida, Muizenberg, Nyanga, Ocean View, Ottery, Parow, Philippi East, Pinelands, Retreat, Scottsdene, Sea Point, Simon's Town, Southfield, Strand, Strandfontein, Suider-Strand, Table View, Tafelsig, Town Centre, Valhalla Park, Vredehoek, Wesfleur, Westridge, Woodstock.

Drop and Collect and SmartCape access only at:
Bridgetown, Hanover Park, Kloof Street, Kuilsriver, Pelican Park, Sir Lowry's Pass, Tokai, Wynberg.

A Drop and Collect service only at:
Edgemead/Monte Vista, Gordon's Bay, Kommetjie, Kulani, Lansdowne, Lentegeur, Maitland, Masakhane. Meadowridge, Mowbray, P D Paulse, Plumstead, Rylands, Site B, Khayelitsha, Tygervalley, Weltevreden.

No service will be offered at these libraries due to closure as a result of vandalism or repairs/maintenance:
Athlone, Bloubergstrand, Brooklyn, Camps Bay, Goodwood, Heideveld, Langa, Lotus River, Nazeema Isaacs, Observatory, Ravensmead, Rocklands, Rondebosch, Somerset West.

LIS -COVID 19 Library services - update 29 September 2020

Strandfontein Library will be open for a drop & collect, study and SmartCape service.

Operating Hours

Operating hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 - 16:00 and Saturday 9:00 -12:00.

Loan services

Loan period - 30 days

Renewal - 1 renewal for additional 30 days

Borrowing privileges - extended: 20 items including 5 audio-visual items (CDs/DVDs) and regrettably no reservations or inter-library loans.

Drop & Collect - ongoing

DROP: public can drop returned library material at the drop zone by following the social distance demarcation and notices.
COLLECT: public can submit the request via e-mail and telephonically to be collected after two days or sooner pending on workload and communication with the patron.
WALK IN REQUEST: public can approach the library and request library items which will be provided if possible there and then.
Information services will be telephonic and per e-mail available. Staff to assist where possible.
Restrictions: No browsing until screens are added to circulation desks.

Study - with effect from 5 October 2020

LImited seats as per COVID 19 rules
Three sessions per day of 2 hour
Session one - 09:00 to 11:00 [15 min cleaning]
Session two - 11:15 to 13:15 [15 min cleaning]
Session three - 13:30 to 15:30 [15 min cleaning]
Restrictions: Study only
Each library to implement an access control process.
Study capacity at Strandfontein Library - 10 patrons.

SmartCape - with effect from 5 October 2020

Limited seats as per COVID 19 rules
Hourly service strictly
Session: 45 minutes [15 min cleaning]
Each library to implement an access control process.
SmartCape capacity at Strandfontein Library - 2 patrons.
