A 12-year-old seventh grader became a hometown hero after saving his family from a raging house fire.
Romir Parker was upstairs when he noticed thick black smoke filling the house. Without hesitation, he grabbed his 2-year-old and 1-year-old siblings, carrying them to safety. But he didn’t stop there — he went back inside to rescue his grandmother, just minutes before firefighters arrived.
Fire Chief Wayne Hoover praised Romir’s courage: “Even if our crew got there within four minutes, Romir saved his family’s lives.” The city honored him with a proclamation, and he’s now an honorary firefighter — with a spot on the brigade waiting when he turns 18.
For Romir, it was about protecting his family. For everyone else, it’s proof that heroism can come in the heart of a seventh grader.
