Founder of March and March movement Jacinta Ngobese was axed from Vuma FM for no reason after five years...
Jacinta Ngobese has announced her unexpected departure from the radio station after five years of service, revealing in a heartfelt media statement that her employment was terminated without explanation.
Ngobese, a beloved voice on the airwaves who joined the station in 2019, reflected on her journey that began with the 12h00 to 15h00 slot, later moving to "The Drive," and eventually hosting the popular morning show The Cruise from 09h00 to 12h00. Throughout her tenure, she said, the show gained momentum, broke new ground, and increased the station's listenership.
Ngobese is also a founding member of the March and March movement, which gained attention for protesting against illegal foreign nationals receiving medical care at South African public clinics and hospitals.
The movement sparked both support and controversy in recent months as it pushes for prioritising citizen of South Africa 1st in healthcare services.
In the statement dated shortly after the incident, Ngobese disclosed that she received a termination letter from her employer on Tuesday, 15 July 2025. No reasons were provided for the decision, although she acknowledged being informed that the dismissal was linked to a complaint from an external source.
She chose not to elaborate on the complaint, indicating it was brought by an outside entity or individual.
"I served the station with dedication, commitment and tenacity, and rejected many offers primarily because VUMA FM was my second home," she said. Her last day at work is set for 31 July 2025.
Despite the abrupt exit, Ngobese expressed deep gratitude to the station's management, her colleagues, and mostly the listeners.
She also gave special thanks to her social media supporters for their love and encouragement, and expressed solidarity with the "March and March" movement.
Vowing not to be silenced in the face of adversity.
“Whatever brutality we are subjected to, the truth will set us free” she said, urging continued advocacy for the rights of South African citizens.
Ngobese's statement ends on a note of resilience and unity, as she calls on her followers and the broader public to continue striving for justice.
VUMA FM is yet to issue an official statement regarding her departure.
There have also been reports that the MEC of Health in KwaZulu Natal and ANC leader, Nomagugu Simelane may have been behind Ngobese-Zuma's axing. It is said that she had given Vuma FM an ultimatum to fire Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma's or lose the money they get from government for advertising on their station. These are allegations that the MEC has refuted. She admitted that she has a child with a Zimbabwean man, but says she hasn't done any of what she has been accused of doing.
